FUCK.... It seems all the scarry movies i watched growing up are low budget slasher movies that are just plain silly today.
Halloween, Friday 13th, Psycho all those are just silly, not scarry.
I know movies like the Shinning are good, but damn ive seen it a million times. We are having people over, so i cant get something i find fun, but somethign that a group of people will be happy with.

Many people to this day insist that the film must have been directed by Steven Spielberg.
Perhaps the reason he didn't want much credit for this movie was because E.T. The Extra Terrestrial was released at the same time, and he didn't want to draw attention away from that. The publicity surrounding this question probably hurt Tobe Hooper, who didn't really go on to a stellar career after this.
For some reason i dont think you can find "really scary" movies anymore.....
They are all sorta lame, they might have 1 or 2 a bit scary moments but thats IT!
Nahh i remember Ailien as the most scary one when i was a kid.

"Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter" might be what you're looking for considering your association with Jesus Dialler and Jesus Hitbot.
Besides, I love the tag line:
"The first testament says 'an eye for an eye'
The second testament says 'Love thy neighbor'
The third testament says 'Kick Ass!!'"
Exorcist for sure, its the only movie which ever got me scared...it still does after seeing it 10 times.
They released the directors cut last year, check that one out, a bunch of new scenes in it.
Event horizon is the shizznit!!! Still one of the only movies to seriously give me the shivers! WHat about the original nightmare on elm street? Deamons? FOr a good chuckle rent Dead Alive!
Dead Alive is EXCELENT, great for laughs and excellent gore.
I don´t find Horror Movies scary, i get a fucking kick out of them.
I have hundred of horror movies in my collection, and the only ones that still freak me out are Suspiria, TCM and The Exorcist.

I just saw Demons yesterday. It's definitely more campy than creepy, but if you like that Dario Argento-style Italian stuff, then it's a great example!
I have the Nightmare on Elm Street Box Set DVD pretty good.
House on Haunted Hill. Vincent Price
Dracula '31 Lugosi
Pet Semetary - Stephen King
Christine - Stephen King
Tommyknockers - Stephen King
The Stand - Stephen King
(ive been on a Stephen King kick since I bought the Rose Red DVD)
Right now Im watching the South Park horror DVD, pretty funny 4 episodes.
Is it just me or has there been a shortage of good horror flicks lately? Are they just more scary when you're a kid?
You'd think that with the advancement of technology and all the cool special effects they are able to do they would come out with a decent one at least...

That was some freaky shit when I was a kid.
I was going to mention that too
the original Night Of The Living Dead still packs a punch too..
The Pool is also a damn good flick..a recent low budget slasher, but delivers the goods...
If you're watching with a group of friends, you need to set the atmosphere for a good scare....lights out of course, a no "wisecracks" rule, serve popcorn (NOT in your special bucket ;)) and have someone who's alerady seen the movie(s) be on standby for a couple "boos"
