Why Not Start A Pay Site For Free ?

What is wrong with not spending a penny on your site ? Other than paying for the domain name you can have free content ,freelinks ,free hosting and even Build the Site Yourself for FREE and promote and market the site yourself for FREE.

In all seriousness, this may fly IF you market it to complete Net newbies. Probably will have to mess with OFFLINE marketing. The problem is the ROI of Offline is very low and migration costs are very nasty.

So let's say you had in your member's section: Bonus Sponsor Content.
You then make sure that you follow the rules of each sponsor for using their pics, using only banners and links from them on the pages where their content is displayed. Because you are showing this extra content to people who paid you to get there, you will get some decent amount of sign ups....

There is such a think as upsells when you own a pay site...maybe showing a few pics from one of your partner's sites...but you can't just take all 500 free pictures sets from Nasty Dollars and use them as the members area of your own site. There was a guy that did just that a while back and I'm sure the lawyers are after him as we speak. Haven't heard from him since.

it's quite similar to say like a Join 4 free type site but instead of it being free just charge like $10 a month,

and just add daily hosted galleries/pics

That wasn't directed at you, it was directed at the originator of the thread. Just trying to be a nice guy and clue him in on what happens when you try to make a pay site with another companies content.

Yes, a join4free site might work with all free plug-ins and sponsor galleries. Hell...they didn't pay anything so what do they have to complain about?
