Ok ill try to explain without complicating things

First let me start off by saying that I base my things on actual trial and error using mega amounts of traffic, I dont just post what I assume, so for those who plan on debating me please be someone who tried both ways vs just posting what you think should or shouldn’t work.

First off common sense would tell you that by adding a trailer a good one obviously that shows just enough to really tease should increase signups, well thats exactly what I thought, I went ahead and started to get good trailers made up for all my sets.

Back when I started the idea of adding flash to a tour would be laughed at simply because of the load time it would take, I mean back then I would offer the members a 56k version of the movie to download.

So now that the speed issue is gone and flash can run on most computers I figured im about to really see my signups go thru the roof once im done redoing my tours with the trailers.

I did the same thing for my pay per view site, created trailers for each and every movie.

Once things where live there was a really noticeable drop in signups, I seriously was shocked, then I noticed a pattern that all the sites I push with trailers on the tour convert worse then those with just photos.

Now I can sit here and speculate why exactly this may be but here is what we have to remember, lets picture a surfer at his computer surfing porn.

Here is this guy sitting at his computer, here is the avg persons setup.

Has a cell phone next to him
Has at least one sort of Instant messaging app open (AIM YAHOO SKYPE ETC.)
Has some sort of email open, yahoo, hotmail, aol (aol software)
Has his myspace, facebook, twitter, youtube minimized as well

And now with all the above he made it to your site, maybe he found you on google maybe he found you on some TGP etc.

The more you let him browse around your site, figure the avg user will play 8 of your 30 second trailers, that’s 4 minutes right there + (sounds like a little time but it’s a long time), think about what can happen during this time to distract him? He can get a text, he can get a notice that he got a new mail now hes responding, maybe his phone rings, maybe he got a new message on myspace.

Think about yourself, how many times where you at a site putting to together a order of books or videos or clothing and then the next day you remind yourself you never ended checking out? Why? Because you got distracted, a email another site, your browser crashed whatever.

Doing tests now I notice that when I have my tours with less pages (8 pages) it does better then the 30 page tours (that’s why ill be changing things).

My advice to anyone would be to do a test for a few days compare numbers, compare in google tracking the bounce rate etc.

Another thing I plan on testing because movie is a powerful thing and I got this idea from the blacksonblondes guys is to do a combo trailer for each site, so instead of doing a trailer per set, you do a 45 – 60 seconds trailer with small short highlights of your best stuff.

While that may be the case chief. I do not ASSume I know what they do or do not do. I simply qualify my remarks with my experience in the case they serve a large market master.

I have tried it both ways. Pictures only, and then videos only, and then a mix of pictures and videos. I have demo'd it any number of ways on my tours, and tracked results. Last year I even demo'd it via FLV/tube versus a traditional tour. I have seen some interesting trends on what works, and doesn't, for me.

I would be interested to hear more on your findings.

A lot of it has to do with what you're working with. If you have a site full of personality on display...then a vid will absolutely sell the site. If it's more of a site where there isn't a whole lot of set up and the girls don't really talk or have a storyline of sorts...more of a get down to gritty action kind of thing, then maybe no vid trailer would be the way to go.

For me, I have had many members of claudia-marie.com write and tell us that they joined once they saw the trailers and heard her southern accent and could see her personality and the way she fucks...whereas in pictures she's just another blonde with big tits. So for me video trailers are the reason her site exploded right out of the gate and is the most profitable thing I've been involved in. Far more than my affiliate work over the years...and that was millions of dollars over the last 11 years.

As an affiliate I can say that I was always able to sell the most memberships to sites that had kick ass video trailers. And I agree the dogfart idea of one big trailer for the whole site is pretty cool too.

These days however, it's hard to judge things. For instance...how much of tushycash is posted on tubes and torrents for free? That effects your sales as well. If the whole members areas are ripped then I would think that a lot of marketing just goes right out the window.

I have 10 new sets a week on my sites, people forget that sites who dont update are mor affected that sites that dont, and I use companies like removeyourcontent and so on to rid my stuff for those sites, its not perfect but do a search for my stuff and most links will come up removed

then again myself and post people I know and I know many never made any coin with solo sites yet you had luck with a solo style site, so I guess to each their own

My :2cents - Some very short teaser to give them a strong tease and sense of style and attitude and production quality and so on is important, but it needs to be very much a tease and not enough material to even get out the hand lotion. I think the "distraction from other stuff" may be a factor, but I also think the mystery and allure of the surfer *imagining* all the awesome shit that is behind the join page is a very powerful force.
