    Dog Lover's Only Please...

Been one of those nights... my baby bear Lucca sitting with her head resting on my lap the better part of the night. She's going through some hip/back problems, and can barely walk around, most movement is a kinda low crawl on her stomach across the floor. She won't even eat her favorite carrot treats, that normally she would jump through a brick wall for.

Love ya Lucky Lucca The Brave ( I know kinda lame name, but it came with her, and is everything if not completely fitting )... you keep your head here in my lap, I'll keep the carrots close for when your feeling better. You made it through Katrina, you can make it through this...

We don't know exact age... when we were blessed with her from the working dog rescue after Katrina they estimated 5-7 yrs... 99.95% of the time she acts like a 1 yr old pup, but she has her moments, like tonight... this one's lasted much longer than the last few.

That sucks. My friends dog was having some rear joint issues. I can call them and ask what it is they are using for her if interested.

You could try giving her some glucosamine, supplemental glucosamine may help to rebuild cartilage and treat arthritis and other joint related ailments. Glucosamine can be found in most health food stores and or pharmacies.

I hope that helps somewhat and that Lucca will be back to jumping through walls for her favorite treats soon.

I'm def interested, we are looking at an enzyme treatment for arthritic issues my neighbor recommended from his lab as well... Anything I can do to take away Lucca's pain...

Oh my, I hope your pup is ok...makes me sad when animals are hurting bc we never really know how bad until its chronic. Not to be a "negatron" and not comparing my situation AT ALL, but my mom's puppy (2 years old) died out of nowhere the other morning...we still have NO idea why or how, but we miss her greatly - she was so precious and a real part of our family. That said, love your Lucca baby always and know that many of us hope she gets better soon!

Has the vet put her on a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug like Deramax, Previcox or Metacam? Daily doses of any of these work wonders.

my poor baby tore up her csrtledge and had to have surgery 10 weeks - the first 3 of no steps - had to carry her out to the yard. The vet didnt like that i wouldnt leave her until she was put under but she is my baby the only one i know would be there for me no questions asked.

first i heard of those suppliments - but worth trying. sending positive thought to your dear Lucca. reminds me of snarks quote: dog is god spelled backwards - they are a god send - so full of love. hope she feels better soon!

Water therapy -- and, believe it or not, there are chiropractors and massage therapists for animals who are in chronic pain.

Has she been to the vet yet?

I hope that helps somewhat and that Lucca will be back to jumping through walls for her favorite treats soon.
100%. There are actually Glucosamine products made specifically for dogs and horses. I had a dog who was old and suffering from arthritis and I started giving him this supplement that I picked up at the feed store. It was made for horses. The difference in him was night and day he was a new dog

I hope she feels better soon.

They gave her glucosamine/chondroitin biscuits from Ralph's and there are supplements for glucosamine/chondroitin at Trader Joe's.

I noticed she seemed to be doing much better.
