Advice on HD movie file size for members area. Is 1.2GB too big?

I'm putting together an HD paysite and some of the movies are 1.2GB. Should I offer the full length 1.2GB movie file as well as the movie split into 100mb bits?

Rest of the movies are about 400Mb which I'm offering as one full length 400Mb file and 4 100Mb bits.

I remember adding movies to my paysite in 1998 when 2MB was considered a too big

    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

As long as you have both the 1,2gb and 400mb version it should be okay..
I never download those huge movies, but then again I only download movies to make galleries out of them..

Offer both, I hate split up movies myself. With move video download becoming mainstream like HD movies on iTunes people are getting used to large gigabyte downloads.

I still don't see the attraction to HD video online. It's not THAT good to make it worth the long download.

Not to mention, to you honestly think that if you have kick ass standard video, a customer is going to pass on beating off to it because it's not wide screen format? Most people with HD sites have SHIT for encoded video yet have the huge files.

Personally, I would not wait for such a large download. That's just insane. I WANT TO BEAT OFF NOW, not in an hour. But that's just me.

I thought about something like that but as this site is a dedicated HD site so I thought best to stick with just HD versions. Maybe I should offer other versions.

Fuck downloads and do streaming only. We stream 720p with np and no waiting for it to load or download. Immediate jerking with no waiting, also offer 480p as well for those with slower computers.

If you try to stream HD you might as well just have SD....
Streaming HD kills the quality for 99% of your surfers, that is unless you dont mean streaming, but think that you do

Unless your video is 45-50 minutes long you need to re-encode it.
1.2 gigs is too big even for an HD file, unless its 8000 BR, in which case you need to re-encode anyways.
