Obama knew it was based on questionable data and rammed it through anyways.
"CNET reports that less than two weeks before the EPA formally submitted its pro-carbon dioxide regulation recommendation to the White House, an EPA center director quashed a 98-page report that warned against making hasty 'decisions based on a scientific hypothesis that does not appear to explain most of the available data.'

You know, you should really study a bit. I understand that here with all the liberal retards, you are like a macho. But in the real world, you are nothing but a donkey who doesn't have a clue.Nuclear Energy... hahaha, 1 billion per station and the waste... billions, and damages.. yeah real fucking smart move.
Capt stupid #2.... a man that doesn't have a clue, doesn't invest in alt technology, doesn't research energy technology, has ZERO idea of what's really going on..... but yet tosses out clueless information.
The company doing this has the patent on it, and has been selling it all over the world, and sitting, waiting... for the right president to get elected. Glad we invested years ago.

This isn't about Global Warming....
It's about moving us into the Energy Technology fields. <-- keep your eye on the ball.
GW is simply a tool "we can all use" to make the technologies we produce have one more leg for being accepted into Countries that "do think" GW is real.

I posted this on another board yesterday.
I think that framing the issue as Global Warming only is not the right way to frame it... as always, the truth lies in the middle of the 2 arguments. To say that Carbon Emissions haven't contributed to Global Warming is not really true in the same sense that saying that Carbon Emissions are 100% of the reason for Global Warming. There are also changes to our magnetic field that are causing problems too. However, I think that the legislation is necessary to push for greener technology and push us toward independance from foreign oil. Congress had more than 6 weeks to review the bill and the pages that were added before the vote.Comment
-
none of the representatives have had a chance to read the full bill before voting... Always a good sign...
Btw, do people still believe that there's no agenda behind this global warming/climate change/carbon dioxide hysteria ? Just the common good ? lolComment
-
Six weeks to review the bill? I'm confused. Early Friday morning they added hundreds of additional pages. Are you saying everyone in Congress had access to those final several hundred pages for six weeks prior to them being added?Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted

You mean that you actually believe that crap? The entirety of bills and changes go through committee before they are presented to the floor for votes and the text is available to all members. Whenever you hear anyone saying that they didn't have a chance to read the bills they are lying (on either side).Comment

What would the purpose be of letting several hundred pages of a very important Bill sit in committee for six weeks and not be voted into the final Bill until the very last minute? They had six weeks to vote those pages in, why at 3 a.m. on the morning of the final vote?Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted

When they say that 300 pages were added they are lying. The real facts are that the bill was edited for clarity and any changes that were recommended during the committee process. You can track all of the changes to the bill from it's original form at http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h2454/show
Yes... I read the entire bill and it was boring.Comment

Just because they voted on them doesn't mean they have been read. There are congressmen admitting on TV that they haven't read these bills they are voting for. They don't care what anyone thinks.Comment
-
I don't think you even have a clue about the process that a bill goes through before vote. There are very specific rules that have to be followed that have been established in the Congress over 200+ years. They can't just introduce a bill for vote without following those rules. Why don't you educate yourself before you continue: http://thomas.loc.gov/home/lawsmade.toc.htmlComment
-
You are correct. If they said they didn't read the bill then they are admitting that they didn't do their jobs. They have entire staffs including lawyers who are supposed to provide them with a summary of what the bill contains at the very least. If they didn't read the bill it's because they are purely not doing their jobs and spending too much time doing TV interviews and attending fundraisers.Comment

Well i'm glad the rules are always followed... uhhh..
(PATRIOT ACT) Rep. Bobby Scott (Committee on the Judiciary member) said, “I think it is appropriate to comment on the process by which the bill is coming to us. This is not the bill that was reported and deliberated on in the Committee on the Judiciary. It came to us late on the floor. No one has really had an opportunity to look at the bill to see what is in it since we have been out of our offices.” Rep. John Conyers, the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, declared, “we are now debating at this hour of night, with only two copies of the bill that we are being asked to vote on available to Members on this side of the aisle.”
Btw, you first claimed that the bill in it's entirety was available to congress 6 weeks prior to the vote... and you claim to know what you are talking about? lol You are delusional.. commitee isn't congress

The patriot act is not a good comparison because it was passed before the transparency sites were created (probably as a reaction to the patriot act). Now you can track all changes to a bill from it's introduction through passage. You can look at all of the changes yourself (as I said). I know it was available because I READ IT.Well i'm glad the rules are always followed... uhhh..

You can continue to keep showing how little you know and you can continue to berate me... but the FACT is that the bill (and all bills) are available on opencongress.org from their introduction... just because you don't follow things as closely as I do doesn't mean you are stupid... just ignorant of the actual facts.Comment

I don't understand why the transparency sites would make the Patriot Act any less of a good example, unless of course, you are saying that they didn't follow the proper procedure before the transparency sites existed. The patriot act is not a good comparison because it was passed before the transparency sites were created (probably as a reaction to the patriot act). The rules were followed then too... they can't get around them. It was the same thing then as they are saying now... "I didn't get to read the bill"... That is bullshit. I am just saying that I can't verify that what they were saying is true because these sites were created AFTER the Patriot Act was already passed and the Patriot Act isn't on those sites (as far as I can see). The bottom line is that they can't introduce a bill for vote unless each side has sufficient time to review the bill and debate it. So if they say that they didn't get to read the bill before vote... that is bullshit. If they did that the opposition and every government watch organization would SUE.Last edited by nation-x; 06-28-2009, 09:34 AM.Comment

Yeppers... it's a bill attached to several ideas/theory. The idea of GW and other ideas issues that the bill covers, is nothing more than a trend attached to another bill, to help it pass.
Just like with Bush, add patriotism, tanks, 9/11 to a bill or even a gov grant, and it would go through. Follow the trends and your bills get passed.
Yeppers, the Republicans did an amazing job, hell even the last what, 16 years? Yeah, we have to ignore the biggest dept in history, mas war crimes, all the lies told, total rip of our civil liberties, a totally trash economy, mass deregulations, the largest rip off of money in history, and much more... but all that stuff is the minor details to the greater good.
Good point... Really proves something...
On the front page I stated "Did you call / write your congress person and tell them not to support the bill?"
Your statement proves how many of the "haters" in this thread, never spoke up in the first place.... or they aren't American.

Your only mistake is your assumption that the media would have done anything other than cheer this monstrosity if they had bothered to mention it. Even they way they frame it as "climate change" legislation instead of an energy tax (and the largest tax increase of all time) is fundamentally slanted and misleading.
Obama is the pied piper leading the lemmings off the cliff while the MSM cheers.
oh no no no no.... its not about "climate change"... he's been very clear when cornered about the obvious devastating consequences this will have for middle/low income people ... "this is a job creation bill"
if the issue of the day was Emperor Penguins in the Brooklyn Zoo... it would be a penguin bill and everyone would still applaud the courage of a fucking jackass who has nothing to offer but a nice smile and great speaking skills.Comment
