    SEOUL, South Korea ? North Korea threatened Wednesday to wipe the United States off the map as Washington and its allies watched for signs the regime will launch a series of missiles in the coming days.

    Off China's coast, a U.S. destroyer was tailing a North Korean ship suspected of transporting illicit weapons to Myanmar in what could be the first test of U.N. sanctions passed to punish the nation for an underground nuclear test last month.

                                                          Is it me or does anyone else think that war is inevitable here...UN makes sanctions giving authority of UN nations to search ships thought to be carrying banned weapons/materials, North Korea has said it would consider interception of its ships a declaration of war, and now this? Its not like a ship will never be searched, in fact it will most likely happen sooner than later...Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

                                                                          Perhaps its inevitable - but its looking doubtful at this point.

                                                                          The U.S. is going to have its forces and military hardware split between NK, Iraq and Afghanistan. Not a pleasant prospect.

                                                                              Depending on how North Korea acts... it could be a very quick "war" or a very drawn out war. They are making China and Russia quite nervous, Japan is hopping around like a Mexican jumping bean, and South Korea is on their knees praying.

                                                                              They have few "friends" right now, and the friends that they do have hold little actual power.

South Korea, Japan, I'm sure the other "allies" would get involved, Russia and China would even be involved in some aspect... they are grasping at straws, really. Rallying their population.
