The bombing of Japan was totally different. We had lost a lot of men in fighting Germany and even though we were winning in Asia Japan refused to even flinch. Millions would have died trying to take Japan.
A huge number of Russians died in fighting Germany. Almost half the population I believe. we were not getting much help from our allies. Japan was our problem.
Either way millions would have died. Either us or the Japanese. What would you have done if you had to make that call.
It could be argued that by using the bomb we prevented any future world wars because everyone knew the crazy Americans were not afraid to use the bomb.Comment

Humans are just animals. War is part of being human. Whether you like it or not we will always have war as long as we have religion and a majority of people following it and as long as we have countries that have dictatorships.
Most people do not like to kill people but if you tell them they are doing it for their God or because the other country is full of evil people that want to kill them it's much easier to talk them into doing it.
That's why very few atheist are willing to go fight in a war.
Do you think you would be able to get Americans to go over to Iraq and fight if %90 of them were Christians?

%16 of Americans are atheists. The higher up the education ladder you go the higher the percentage of atheists goes up.
The same is true of income. The more money people make the more likely they are to be nonbelievers in any god.
