They're annoying. Sure. But they also drive tons of traffic to blogs. Anyone think these might be treated by Google like popups soon?

I don't think so. They alone don't annoy me that much.
What really annoys me is the combination of:
Push notification
Cookie notification
Newsletter sign-up form
Overlay advertising
On some sites, you have a close four windows/boxes just to see the content.... Which you don't like then.I know, my english is bad. But your german might be even worse

I recently visited several main stream sites through various
search engines to find some information on these pages.
Aside from the fact that you can hardly find any more pages and informations
that where grown and built organically, most of it was artificial SEO crap.
Is it difficult to surf through these pages after push, cookie, newsletter,
overlay and privacy notifications are closed.
When I somehow managed to leave the notifications behind me,
I found myself on adsense mfa sites of the worst kind,
that would blow every adult webmaster into the nirvana.
After the third page I gave up the search frustrated
without the information I was looking for.
In the meantime, I'm even thinking about throwing all the internet,
online, and mobile garbage out of my complete private life.

Yes Chrome 80 will block it automatically based on certain criteria. But think people that practice monetizing push correctly will be ok. We have always used best practices.

Cookie notification is worst, especially if you use extension which deletes cookies after you close tab.I don't think so. They alone don't annoy me that much.

i'm not so sure about that. push notifications have permission priming while pops don't.

We've got a private solution in beta test to preserve the effectiveness of push monetization for our publishers. PM me if you wanna join.
Chrome 80 update shouldn't cut off totally this flow anyway, e.g. it shouldn't affect those who use push for audience retention purposes.Comment
