My position is that we all better hope Global Warming is one big fat steaming pile of bullshit, because nothing that is currently being considered will have any measurable impact on the warming. Even if the entire first world shuts down all of it's emissions, China, India, and the rest of the developing world are about to start pumping so much carbon into the atmosphere that it will make us all shit. They will never sign on to Kyoto or any other emissions controls because they want what we have and nobody's going to tell them they can't have it. So, basically, all this "green" crap we see coming out of politicians is nothing but a cynical attempt to capitalize on the issue in order to acquire more power and money. There's nothing we can do as of now, so sit back and hope for the best. But let's not shutdown industrial society and progress in vain. In fact, progress, and the technology it could produce down the line, is probably our only hope if this is for real.Comment

When you get a consensus from over %90 of the worlds top scientists it's not a scam.
The same thing is said about evolution. You have a consensus from 9/10 scientists and even the %10 are not totally against it but yet you have a large portion of society saying it's wrong or an evil plot to destroy religion. Generally those people are uneducated or conspiracy nutjobs.Comment

This will probably go ignored as most of my posts seem to or maybe I am spot on more than I think. Also I repeat that I acknowledge global warming and with my study of it I don't buy into man causing it. That is NOT the same as denying it.

At any rate, this man made global warming IS a means to bigger pocket books. If it is cyclical like I and many others believe, very crediable scientists at that, then there is nothing to be gained from it.
However, if MAN is the cause, then regulations can be made to control who gets to pollute and who doesn't. Believe it or not there are people who are more willing to pay millions of dollars a year to buy pollution privileges than spend those millions seeking eco friendly solutions.

The worlds scientists are not funded by the UN.
The overwhelming majority of scientists concur that the earth is warming at a faster rate than ever before in earth history. The keyword in the whole climate change debate is RATE We all know that the earths climate is cyclical. That is not in dispute. It is rapid rate of increase in temperature that is cause for concern amongst those that study it intensively. This idea that it is all constructed so governments can tax it is ignorant, absurd and represent apathy and its worst.
We have changed the planet more in 30 years than we have in 2 million years plus of our existence. We pump massive amounts of toxic shit into our waterways, into the air we breath and we destroy the very environment in which we live. How any educated person can suggest that man has no effect on the planet is beyond my comprehension.Comment

The debate is over if it's man made.. Not if its warming up faster. Just a short bit ago it was cooling down faster than ever. Now it's hot. Right now it's in a down cycle, again.. but overall it's in an up cycle. And scientists that study earth, know it's going to get hotter and humans aren't going to be able to stop it, because we aren't a factor in why it's increasing in the first place, just like we didn't make it cool down.
We aren't talking about the environment, we are talking about climate change, more so directed at man made. We don't need science to tell us that humans can totally screw up the local environment.
