Just curious if some of you are still hosting with Total Server Solutions, which acquired NationalNet. Their tech support seems to be -- not as good as it was during NationalNet times.
Did many of you stick with NationalNet (now TSS)?

Ah, good to know I'm not alone. I was planning to update a WP instance tonight, turns out that requires a PHP update, which in turn requires a OS update, which requires a server move... and now they are pushing me over to sales. Not sure why they didn't think to use a distro that would be upgradable when we setup this new server less than a year ago. Arg.
I'm sure this is just a blip, but I miss good old NationalNet already.Comment

Huh? To upgrade php, you dont need to use packaging system provided by os, you can simply compile from source to whatever version you want. Doing OS reinstall for PHP upgrade would be like burning house to get rid of spider.Ah, good to know I'm not alone. I don't know -- NationalNet did a great job at looking after our servers since 2013. This is my first time reaching out to TSS after the NationalNet acquisition.Comment

OS upgrades are inevitable. Not sure if this is critical for a setup that's less than a year old, but there are other reasons to upgrade - security patches, compatibility with TLS, etc. - besides the PHP, so may just be them choosing to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, which in the end if they're performing your migration is beneficial to you without causing too much stress. So, I don't think it necessarily means they're not doing their job. Hope the upgrade goes well for you.

Oh, I am 100% fine with them upgrading the OS (or whatever else they think is best), but I do have an issue that at 11 PM -- I get told that Sales need to get involved to do this scheduled update. And then, no reply at all to tickets after that, just dead. So I wait 40 minutes, hoping that there will be some kind of reply, but nothing. Anyhow.OS upgrades are inevitable. Thanks, I'll take all the luck I can get

Upgrade of core of OS,(like moving from let say from cent os 6 to cent os 7) it's not needed, as all other parts which are usually required to run things can be updated to latest version without touching core of os.OS upgrades are inevitable. This more sounds like they never heard for compiling. That is why i am not really a fan of package system as usualy you are forced to use specific version of php/nginx/apache/whatever and if you want to update by using package system you cant, only by upgrading whole os or compiling from source.Comment

Don't tell me these things. Let me be in ignorance with my NationalNet (um TSS) troubles. Honestly I never thought nationalnet support was any better then any other reputable host in adult. Yes, you'd get a reply in 1 or 2minutes, but it was just "we're looking into it and will update you soon' - really no different then an autoresponder confirming receipt of your ticket. The actual resolution time wasn't any faster IMHO.
I don't think we've gotten any new clients hosting on TSS since they bought out natnetMechanical Bunny Media

PS: I only had a small virtual account with Certified Hosting and I kept that - nothing noteworthy happened since the change to TSS. Besides I am now getting emails from them trying to sell me stuff.Comment
