UK People - Anne Widdecombe for speaker!

I disagree just about all her politics but I am backing Anne Widdecombe for speaker. Firstly, it would be good viewing and her voice and attitude would lead to potential comedy moments.

Secondly, she doesn't have a family other than her mother. So, there would be no 'but my husband claimed this and I didn't know' excuses. The woman is already married to parliament much the way she would have been married to the church if she had become a nun.

That is actually a very good suggestion. I can't stand the woman but she would be right for that job.

You're sure she did not claim her cat food as expenses in the past? Would be a short ride then for her.

Yup, that is why she is the correct choice. I don't like her either but I would be okay with it. Which is why she could get cross party support. Even those that don't like her can see that she could do the job.

Not going to happen. Crazy Christians are not the kind of people you want in positions of any authority. Look at what happened with Blair

If when you say "best" you actually mean "worst", I'd agree.

Ah but you take her out of the main votes once she is speaker. Plus, not sure if you are in the UK at the moment, but right now there aren't any MPs that people want in authority of anything.

Ah, I was laughing all the way through at her interaction with Paul and Ian and I really don't agree with her on *anything*. Well, other than Michael Howard having something of the night about him.

Speaker breaks ties in the house -- and with the self confessed bias her beliefs in the imaginary magical wizard have on her decision making process, then that could be defined as authority.

The current speaker is also Christian. I know they tie break but it is rarely ever used.

Another idiot MP so why the hell not. British Politics are a disgrace and will continue to be a disgrace. Forcing Michael Martin to resign won't help the issue, it just takes some focus off the scum bag MP's who claimed thousands upon thousands of pounds worth of shit.
