I call it football, but I tailor EVERYTHING for an American audience. My best posts on GFY are the ones I didn't post, because I was unsure if Americans would get it.
Glad you're awake and thankyou for replying! I'm totally opposed politically to Ministry now, but I will always love them as a band because they remind me of being at college. (College in the UK is 16-18)

I do the same thing when I spell colour as color
it really is systems though and absolutely neo-colonized peeps understand that
systems are the mechanisms through which injustice is perpetrated through laws and those systems exist whether constituents agree with them or not
social norms play a role as well, I'm not discounting that. but systems are how shit gets justified
for example the continuous journey regulation in Canada designed to keep Indian and Japanese peeps out. did every person in Canada understand the implications let alone agree with it? fuck no, but that was the gov in power and they did what they wanted. Canadian govs and institutions excel at passive aggressive racism
where I live now the national motto is 'out of many one people' as JA is so diverse. white folks live in the hills or a couple of very exclusive communities I never visit so I never see them. I honestly have not spoken to a white person irl since the airport when I visited my parents back in March. this nation is a typical neo-colonial pattern with white peeps economically at the top, a middle range of Asian and South Asian peeps and Black peeps on the bottom. although the latter is changing their demographic dramatically, in this new economy Black people are building
another cool thing is that this place is dropping the disparaging language and ideas of the colonizers. it used to be that the poorest Black peeps in the city were seen as the problem rather than the group most hard hit by the actual problems. by middle-class(es) Black people. no more, that is a change that is a fucking delight to witness
does anyone blame white people for what they have to overcome? nope. specific rules and practices created what this nation is coming out from under. the systems are the enemy that are being fought, not people. lots of white people here are so on board for the changes too and they are doing their part with money to support the renaissance. it's not fun living in a super-polarized society for anyone with respect for humanity
a more relevant example give the thread topic, can you imagine if I was born on a remote reserve? few opportunities locally and internet access can be spotty at best so would have never been able to even start my biz. so I'd do what, be lucky to get a low wage job to keep a roof over my head or more likely have to shack up with someone just to split the bills? lucky if I'd have clean water? I'd have offed myself by now, seriously. some of the highest suicide rates in the world and I get why
generally people don't blame white Canadians, they rightly blame the state. they recognize most white peeps don't know what happens or if they do for them it's like watching Sri Lanka on the news. different world. so peeps are more and more doing for themselves, same as here in JA. no blame, no hatred, just let's do ish that works for us and fight the bonds that constrain success
people are never the enemy. the constructs we create to fuck over others are
glad you're up too =)
