peeps able to recapture a thriving society out from under the jackboot takes time. oppression chips away at the stuff (econ, social and personal security and ability to aim higher and hit goal) that makes people shine absolutely. no matter ancestry, class, belief system or shade of skin
all the more reason to open arms as widely as possible to share talents, tools and experiences against common obstacles as you described. as peers where no one has to be worried about what they say or how they express themselves as part of an open and honest dialogue. friends and peers don't micromanage language as how one behaves speaks louder

when you and I talk I always think about how ridiculous it is that peeps here with differing beliefs and value systems try to dehumanize each other. dumb libs, republitards and all that
you and I have NOTHING in common and disagree so often yet we've been friends for years. cuz we're open, fun, strive to be good people who wish to do no harm in figuring out this world and aren't afraid to talk about how we each perceive our experiences. or at least you are, I suck and am just around for the hot pagans =)
