We were one of the early h.264 adopters, and have an easy solution to get you going. A secure player that has several security measures to keep your videos IN your members area. It also has its own back end and operates independently from your cms. Simple and quick to add in vids. We also will fully set you up if you are in need of that, re encoding vids, uploading, descriptions titles, thumbs etc. Hit me up if you are interested. Have a site for it I keep getting delayed on launching. Its done just need to write up press release and start pushing it out there. You can email me [email protected]

We encode h.264 for many members areas. This is not FLV but plays/streams on the FLV players

I can, actually if not better than .wmv. But we use .mp4's normally.

You can use a much lower bitrate with h264. Depends on your resolution but 900kb to 4000kb

Yes thats what I was telling you lol. Ok so for 720p streaming I use 2300kb. You really have to experiment to see what works for you though. You need a balance of quality, and quick streaming. We are on a cdn network so we are able to push as much speed as the person viewing can take, if you are on a central server and pushing large videos to someone across the globe it might now work for them.
