Should i buy vista home prem 64 or XP pro 64

Sup, im having a hard time to decide. My new gear is on it's way and im chosing between operating systems:

    1) Windows XP Professional 64-bit

    2) Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

All negative comments and bad reviews of Vista have made me think twice about this, that's why im not sure. I believe also that Windows 7 are not ready for stable everyday use at the moment, also because the programs I use dont have support for win 7 driver-wise.

Now gfy can decide for me, simple as that! 1 or 2

I'd just use Windows 7. I haven't encountered anything in the way of issues with software.

Just curious, why would someone want to run pre-release software?

It'd be fine to install Windows 7 on a spare machine to try it out, but why install something on your primary PC that is going to quit working in a year, and is still being tested for bugs?

Probably because at this point, even in RC form, it's still an improvement over what most Windows users are currently using.

I have not had one single issue with the one box I have running Windows 7.

it is not going to just "quit" working, it may nag you to register it once a while, big deal.

why would someone comment on something they have obviously never even tried out??

oh wait, that happens all the time

I was asking a serious question that I didn't know the answer to, wasn't just making a comment. After searching more on it, it seems you didn't know the answer either.

                                              http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../download.aspx

"Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you?ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You?ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use"

Personally I'd prefer not to have to reinstall everything in a year, but whatever floats your boat.
