When the Democrats are in power we don't have any issues. Our immigration system is properly staffed and runs, more or less, without issues. Our last President deported more illegal immigrants than another president.

Under Trump..... Arrests are down, illegal immigration is way up, and we are separating kids from their families - not just for a few weeks or even a few months, but separating them from their families for the rest of their lives.

Illegal immigration was properly handled under Obama and other past Presidents. Those who came here illegally were arrested and deported, but there was also a path for people to come here legally and become a citizen.

Trump removed this, and then threatened to lock down the border which lead to a rush of people coming here illegally, and then combined with utter mismanagement at all levels has completely overwhelmed the immigration system.

This happened under Trump, was caused by Trump, and is getting worse because of Trump.

The Trump administration - meaning mostly Kushner - put together a immigration plan that had nothing to do with reality. Their plan basically wanted to allow a small percentage of "college graduates" from other countries in, but failed to address ANY of the other issues of immigration, legal status, asylum, people already here, people with green cards.... It was stunning that there that after two years of working on this their solution only address one minor point. It's like saying "We have a huge problem with automobiles in our country" and then saying "The only law for cars is that only people with college degrees will be able to buy new cars" which completely ignores ALL of the other laws about cars and ALL of the hundreds of millions of cars on the road.

Obama did better than most. Under Trump, arrests are down, deportations are down, and the people entering the country has spiked. Trump has done the direct opposite of everything he needed to do.
