Film - Taken

Taken was worth the wait for me. A good mix of action with some great arm too arm combat that's reminiscent of The Bourne Identity or a James Bond film. I will say that the "baddies" need to learn how to shoot straight as in some scenes it is so unbelievable that not one of the hundred odd shots hit Liam Neeson.

Plot
----
While vacationing with a friend in Paris, an American girl (Maggie Grace) is kidnapped by a gang of human traffickers intent on selling her into forced prostitution. Now, her father, Bryan (Liam Neeson), a former soldier, must pull out all the stops to save her. But with his best years possibly behind him, Bryan's task may be more than he can handle. Directed by Pierre Morel, this relentless action thriller also stars Famke Janssen.

but it just came out on dvd yesterday.. I think I'll order the blue ray of it tonight.. been thinking i would get it when it came out but haven't gotten around to ordering it yet

Here's the characters in Taken, in a nutshell:

Me happy, goofy 17 year old portrayed badly by full grown woman. Me love daddy.

me bitchy mom. Me keep daughter away from dad. Me bad.

Me oblivious, but wealthy stepdad. Me like Liam, but me give more to his little girl than he ever can.

Me Liam, me want back in daughter's life. Me love her so much. Me lovingly caress pictures in photo album. You not go to France. Me overprotective.

Anyone that could think that this crap is anywhere near the quality of the Bourne movies should have they're skull checked. They tried to do that and failed. The only thing good about it was Liam neeson, and that wasn't nearly enough.

Full of way too many contrivances, has an annoying 30 year old actress playing a goofy 17 year old girl, an ex Special ops barbecue(hilarious) and an escape from certain death based on the a loose bolt on a pipe in France. I don't even ask for that much from movies but thought this was some fucking garbage.

Very formulatic but done well. At least the end wasn't too cheesy, unlike The Sceptic a good movie that had a suck ass ending, which I also rented on PPV that same night.

Sorry... imo... THAT MOVIE FUCKING SUCKED BIG ASS MONKEY BALLS!!!

It was a perfect example of every fricking crappy movie retread of every stupid cliche that makes typical hollywood fair so predictable that you could almost say the lines before they were actually spoken.

Pure DRECK. Unfiltered SAP.

I think the Bourne movies are just ok but they are like works of genius comparatively.

Yes it was a good movie but you must have been watching a different version than I because he most definitely got shot.

No it doesn't compare to the Bourne series but I didn't think it was supposed to be. The OP is the first person I have heard to compare the two. The actress is 26 and IMO played the part very well and looked the age. I was actually surprised she was as old as she was when I checked.

BTW, just because YOU didn't like something doesn't mean there is something wrong with people who DO.
