Akin to our situation in Canada, Americans were fubar'd during the last federal election with a choice of voting for whoever they deemed to be "the lesser asshole". We're left with the distinct impression that although people considered Trump repugnant...they viewed Hillary as representing the antithesis of change. Even knowing, understanding and acknowledging all of Trump's faults - voters still couldn't bring themselves to put Hillary in power.
Sadly, that's the state of politics today - having to vote for the least assholish on the list. No matter the outcome...it was bound to polarize the nation.
Yeah, Donald Trump is a certifiable fuckstick and largely a waste of oxygen that has arguably done more damage than benefit for the average person.
But only a crystal ball could tell you what four years under Hillary would've looked like.

I've heard this analysis before and it has one severe flaw... Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 3 million votes.
So American voters overwhelmingly wanted what Hillary Clinton was selling. American voters did NOT want what Trump was selling.
The American people chose Hillary Clinton over Trump, by 3,000,000 votes.
American people chose sanity over insanity by 3,000,000 votes.
The American people chose a woman over a man to be president of the United States by 3,000,000 votes.
304 people in the corrupt Electoral College overrode the vote of the 66 million Clinton voter majority, over Trump's 63 million minority votes, and installed Trump as POTUS, despite the majority vote of American citizens.
So to put it simply whenever you reference what the American people wanted the American people majority voted that they wanted Hillary Clinton as president and they like what she was selling.
