A journalist afixing "cultist" to describe people who supported and voted for Trump because they were so disenchanted with the status quo and simply thought nothing would change by voting for Clinton.
Akin to our situation in Canada, Americans were fubar'd during the last federal election with a choice of voting for whoever they deemed to be "the lesser asshole". We're left with the distinct impression that although people considered Trump repugnant...they viewed Hillary as representing the antithesis of change. Even knowing, understanding and acknowledging all of Trump's faults - voters still couldn't bring themselves to put Hillary in power.
Sadly, that's the state of politics today - having to vote for the least assholish on the list. No matter the outcome...it was bound to polarize the nation.
Yeah, Donald Trump is a certifiable fuckstick and largely a waste of oxygen that has arguably done more damage than benefit for the average person.
But only a crystal ball could tell you what four years under Hillary would've looked like.
