I think that she just meant that the Internet is ever chaning. There will always be good money in on-line porn, but no single business model seems to last that long. Someone is always inovating, changing the rules of the game, etc.
We certainly have long term plans, but the truth is that those plans will probably change 10 times in the next 5 years as the industry changes, inovations are developed, competition increases, etc.

Ken I personally think its a good idea and I don't think it would have a huge affect on the industry
but on the other hand it just doens't feel right.
its not really about the affect it will have or money it can make but the idea of launching something that we all have built business relationships on and thats traffic deals.
why support something that we all have invested alot of time in (exits) and built relationships on you know what I mean.
I guess it just rubs people the wrong way.
I think it would be something that would work well on mail traffic or SC traffic where people are looking for it. but shouldn't be promoted directly on exits.

but then again if I could target it right maybe i would try to capitalize on it if I knew it were surfers who don't want exits but I wouldn't want to educate them on it either.

We all know the fact that consoles and popups generate more revenue. Cashquest knows it and that's why they has 4-5 popups on their sites. And that's why they won't answer those who asked them why it's such a contradiction for them to promote a popup killer program when they use consoles themselves.
For those who say that popups will be dead once IE kills them. I don't give a damn. I use *one* console as an alternative with 4free programs and make money with it. And I will continue to do it until the popups die.
I believe Cashquest will also use consoles until they do die. It will eventually, that's for sure.

Actually, I thought I had answered that quesiton. I LOVE consoles, that's why they are still on our sites. They make us a lot of money.
My only arguement is that this is a great way to make money off of people who will NEVER join a paysite.
And.....call me crazy, but a Tobacco company selling nicotine patches wouldn't be a bad idea.
Lot's of people will always smoke, so they will always make money on them.
Some people will try to quit, but will fail, so they will make twice the money of them.
Some people will try to quit and succeed, so they will make some money on them, instead of a different company selling them the same damn patch.
I'm not saying that Tobacco companies should advertise a patch right alongside a pack of ciggeretes, but selling a patch to people who are going to buy one anyway makes sense to me.....Comment

I'm fairly well acquainted with Ken and respect him as a businessman. I cannot believe for one minute that CashQuest would promote anything that would deliver a serious blow to the adult industry as a whole, and I'm certain that a lot of thought went into the decision. Also, the fact remains that if surfers don't get the software from CQ affiliates, they'll get it elsewhere, so why not make a buck if you can.
On the other hand, as someone who uses and understands the value of consoles, the whole concept of "killer" software is bothersome to me, not just the new CQ software.
We have the mainstream net to thank for this. Once again, they've "borrowed" an idea from the adult side and carried things WAY to far. I get hit with tons of consoles at virtually every mainstream site I visit... adult sites are tame by comparison! It's handy for the mainstream people to blame adult sites for consoles, but I'd be very curious to know how many non-porn surfers had ever seen a console up until a year or so ago when mainstream started overusing them. Seems to me they've created their own market.
At any rate, promote CQ's software if you want to, don't promote it if you don't want to... it's really that simple. Gigi was merely the messenger, and I think it was pretty rude to rip her apart for doing her job. I hope Ken will give things a couple of weeks to settle down before deciding to pull this option from his affiliate program. Somehow 24 hours just doesn't seem like a long enough test period to me.

However, there are situations where this might be a good item to sell. For example, what are the chance of a surfer who's on the 5th console of a TGP site actually buying a membership somewhere?
We need to remember, the VAST majority of surfers never pull out their credit cards to buy an adult membership. THAT is the target customer for this product......
With all due respect, I don't care what the owners of other webmaster programs think about our program, but I do care about what our affiliates think.
If we get more negative feedback from our affiliates than positive, we'll pull the program. Afterall, it's all about making our affiliates happy.....
As an affiliate.. I don't like it. I make over 10k a month from consoles, the longer it takes for them to be eliminated, the better.
Plus, your logic about most surfers not pulling out their credit card for porn really doesn't hold up. They will also not pull out their credit cards for this either. The cheap guys will have found a free version of a pop up killer.
According to your own program, pop ups are worth $8-$13 for each sale. This seems really short sighted to me.Comment

AOL and Earthlink? No real comparison in the number of users, especially porn users. I can search our client emails and find the proportion of one to the other.
I am not in favor of this, one of the ways that per join programs pay decent payouts to webmasters is and has been that they use their exit traffic to make it back up.
No, I don't think that Ken has the market reach to make a huge dent in the situation. However I do think that this is something that probably wasn't thought through clearly prior to launch.
And using it as the end console on a chain, that seems to relate to the guys that were tossing up the scripted page with the users hard drive on it in order to sell them the eraser products.Comment

That was my webmaster point of view, as a surfer they piss me off when more then 1 opens.
Yahoo uses 1 popup, ok I actually think 0-1 popup is ok. Do you see yahoo chain 12 together then unload the surfer to offshoreclicks or some bullshit?
Popups are a neat idea but they are being abused. If the choice is every site with loads of popups or none, I would select none. Hey gigi, I haven't read all this thread, and don't have time too - but I was wondering how much money Cash Quest has made off exit consoles? Hundreads of thousands? Millions? Why in the world would you offer such a program? And you can't say you're loosing profits to the other exit killer programs, they are competition for you, in that they are taking away potential sign ups, not taking away potential revenue for having an exit killer.
