    Virus Alert!

CyberSexEnt thought it would be a GREAT 'marketing tool' if they launched a VIRUS that pops up one of THEIR sites as soon as you log on to any other page with adult meta-tags in it...so NOW, everytime I launch a browser and go to my OWN site (my homepage) I get their spam...gee...this SO makes me want to buy anything there! This will LOSE customers not GAIN them, IMHO...I am having WAY trouble finding and killing it! ANY suggestions other than a reformat?!
    PLEASE help me!
    SPANK!

...been there...done that...DAILY...it keeps creepy back up on me...

I am REALLY hating it! There is NOTHING as irritating as having a dildo rammed up yer pa-toot, another in yer critter-getter and having that BROWSER pop up over your chat! I mean, I ONLY have 2 hands! It takes a little maneuvering with my foot and the mouse to close it so I can see what 'my guys' are typing!

              ;)

Oh, also...whatever happened to the GOOFY pics we took in January? I want to make an "Ooops" section on my site and those would be POIFECT to start them with!

I have been getting the same motherfucking pop ups. Adaware does not seem to kill the problem either.

                Fuck.

                  Try seeing what's in HKEY_LOCALMACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENT VERSION/RUN

                  and in:

                  HKEY_LOCALMACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENT VERSION/SERVICES

Look in the startup folder too. May not help, but I thought I'd throw it out there in case it would. It has to run from somewhere.

You could also clear your internet cache, go back to their site (since you already have it anyway), then look in the cache and see what was added after you went there. It's hard to say what to do next without seeing what comes up.

                  HTH,

For starters, how on earth did you manage to get that on your system? In general unless they're actively (ab)using a vulnerability in IE it shouldn't get into your computer unnoticed. Don't ever click yes to any security notices, don't ever run anything executable (.bat/.com/.exe/.vbs/etc.) without knowing exactly what it is and what you're doing.

Apart from that, I'm interested as to what could be doing such a thing. It's most likely an IE plugin that will be a bitch to find, that or a modification of one of IE itself or one of its libraries.

Thanks to Windows you can't uninstall IE and reinstall it, but you can try repairing/reinstalling IE and seeing if that helps at all.

Otherwise you're going to have to sift through the registry to find a fix.

yes, i have to agree with this too. if you dont know much about computers, the first best thing to do is to go into the registry and see whats there.

just start deleting stuff, cause this may stop the program from launching. there is no science to this, its all about trial and error and most importantly... just having fun!

from the other thread I linked:
                                          ---------------------------------------
"Nitechat was very helpful and directed me to cytron.com, the people resposible for it. I emailed them, and they finally responded 4 days later with removal instructions that did not work...further email help requests went unanswered. However, my Mcafee Vshield just told me, after taking the new uptade, that my machine had the "cytron" virus, and it is now fixed. So, boy and girls, the morals are as follows.

                                          1. Nitechat is a good lil feller.

                                          2. [email protected] is a scumbag. Feel free to drop him hate mail, never let him design or program for you, and avoid any marketing offers he may throw your way.
                                          ----------------------------------------

Hey Kayla, you work for Richard right? Are you spamming about a virus here or what? Why would you start a thread about a virus your employer is responsible for??
