    Germany May Seek Ban on Paintball

    In response to the Winnenden school shooting in March, the German government is moving ahead with a plan to ban paintball, which politicians describe as a game that glorifies murder and teaches people to kill.



    Two months after the deadly school shooting in the southern German town of Winnenden, the German government is planning to ban paintball. The tragic March event saw a young man named Tim K. shoot 15 people before turning his gun on himself.

    According to reports in the Berliner Zeitung and Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung newspapers on Friday, games like paint ball and laser tag are to be banned in Germany in the future, and people who violate the law could be fined up to ?5,000.

    "These games simulate murder," Wolfgang Bosbach, who heads the conservative Christian Democrats (CDU) in the German parliament, told the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung

              I don't understand why society has this pressing urge to "ban" something they don't understand any time some nut somewhere flies off the handle and does something stupid.

                                          I dont play paintball, but I love airsoft because it is much more realistic combat, and being ex-military i like that shit. But I suppose airsoft isnt legal there either?

                                                                  What a stupidity.I think paintball and airsoft should be used as method to prevent people to think about real killing.Also this remind me when someone kill people and says how some video game was one of reason of doing it and then they ban that video game.

                                                                      Paintball was turned into a sport. People don't walk around with pump guns and hide behind trees in the German paintball courts.

                                                                          Sad, some of the best paintball players I paly with here are in the german military that has a station/post here in northern VA. they were.. very very good.

                                                                                          They actually have a very strong and well equipped army now. After the first World War, they were supposed to be totally demilitarized, but after the second World War, to help keep the Russians at bay, we helped build a strong army for West Germany which formed the backbone of the army for unified Germany.
