Who has the most CDs here?

I am looking into buying a nice CD case to house my entire collection.

This is becoming a grand problem of mine.

I am around 1500-1700? of CDs. I have been buying and just putting in my *new towers* for the past year or so to avoid the issue of tacky stacks of towers and CDs, but I am now organizing them,...alphabetizing them, anyone else have a buttload of CDs, what do you use for storage and/or organization?

Right now I have the standard CD towers that hold about 175 a piece, but man I got 9 of these farking things, I just need a wallsize rack or something.

Any ideas?

No I dont wanna rip them all to disk. I like buying imports and love sleeve art, fuck mp3s.

Hmmm... I only buy music in the genre I am mainly interested in. But I ran a mp3 ftp site for a couple years and I have easily in excess of 5000 full cds. All Oi and hardcore. And that is small compared to some release groups hqs and drop sites that I have seen.

5000 cd rips. You do know you can burn them back to cd and play them in a regular stereo right without any loss of sound quality from the original right? I think I have only burned a couple mp3 cds.

My car stereo can play mp3 cds and its nice because you can fit 10 normal cds on one mp3 cd. And a proper rip at 192k+, you cant tell the difference between the original and the rip.

God I love mp3.

You been on any of the irc channels or in any of the newsgroups? More music out there than you could ever possibly download. God forbid you find some good dedicated traders, its like heaven.

nah, to be honest bro I havent ever really listened to much mp3s.

Its all too much Cloak And Dagger shit just to get some tunes. I use to use Bearshare like 2 years ago or so. That disappeared, moved to Kazaa. Most of the shit I find*rare stuff anyway* is usually not even the full songs and Since I do Audio normally, the quality is such shit it annoys me just to even listen to it.

Although, I would be interested in any suggestions?

indeed, at 192k+ the quality is amazing,even the stereo freaks won't see any difference. I still buy cds, but not like in the past.

Wow yeah, you are seriously missing out. Not much cloak and dagger really. Its all right out in the open.

If you hop on irc, join an efnet server and join a channel like #albumhq . Tons of daily releases. Mosty top 40 shit, but you will be amazed at the amount of stuff being served on their bots. All of it quality rips, I refuse to grab mp3s off kazaa or any p2p. Joe Smacktard at home wouldnt know how to rip an mp3 if his life depended on it. Once in that channel, you can whois everyone else and see where they are. You can go to mp3 specific channels like #mp3punk and any one of a dozen other derivatives. That and everyone has their own ftp sites setup so you can find just about anything.

If you got usenet, jump on alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.heavy-metal, there is a pretty good group of dedicated people there and you can grab a good 10 to 15 cds a day off there of just all sorts of metal. Alt.binaries.punk is another half assed one cept it is mostly frequented by either VERY old school punk guys that listen to shit nobody likes, or kids and their god damn Blink 182 mall punk crap shit. Still some gems in there however.

If you can get hooked up with a good ftp, you'll never buy another cd again. I would open mine back up but they capped my upstream, that and it was getting to large. I figured ISP would catch on sooner or later.

Try irc.rt.ru as your server, they let anyone on. I am on Comcast and they are shitcanned everywhere as well.

Oh, and if you jump on irc, the bots will have nicks like mp3|dcc12 or some shit very similar. If you want to see what it has without waiting to have it spew its list in the channel. They will be the ones with the +'s in front of their nicks.

/ctcp botname xdcc list

And that will spit out its contents for you.

then you can move on to warez. weeeeee good stuff.

and my bad, its #musichq not albumshq

Tons of warez in #isomega and #isocore

Anyone wanna point me to other good iso channels, listem if ya got em.

Yeah, can be a little overwhelming at first. Thats a good sized channel.

Mirc scripts. The good thing about mirc is it is skinnable so to speak. I use Extreme Mirc. ooooh sounds impressive. Anyhow, http://www.mircscripts.org/comments.php?id=1013 you can get it there. Make things easier to look at for sure. You can change everything about it, font, color, all that crap.

Once you see something you want, just tell the bot to send it to you. its that simple.

/ctcp botname xdcc send #2 (or whatever the package # is that you want)

For example, want that Bone Thugs? Just type in /ctcp m-dcc04 xdcc send #2

And you will have it shortly.

Thats it. Free music, software, and movies all day long.

Rejected by your mirc client or the bot?

File type ignored. Look in your dcc options and see if there is a setting in there thats is telling your client to ignore files of a certain type. Paranoid scripts will reject things that it may think are dangerous.

Did you download the script, or are you using old school default mirc?

Im not too big on spending a few hours downloading a gig movie so I can watch a bootleg copy of Star Wars from China.

They are there, those iso channels I posted should have most of the movies in there that are currently in theatres.

I am positive divx channels exist for what you want, its just a matter of finding them. Start whois'ing the people in those channels and you will see where they are getting them from. I never been big on the pirate movie stuff.
