                the truth is that moot is 10k in the hole from running this hole (har har) and isn't about to spend the money to put it on a CDN or some other anycast-type solution. it's one box and all you really need are a few dozen/hundred connections with fat pipes, or a decent botnet and voila, no moar /b/

                the only reason /gif/ is online is because it's on another server and they probably don't have the zombies (yet) to attack it simultaneously

                ddos is easy mode script kiddie bullshit yet expensive to protect against, so 4chans will always get pwnt by it until moot somehow makes some money off the site

                        I'm sure 4chan is a beefy box, probably a cluster of boxes behind a CSS or F4 or something, but it's not invincible by any means, and there's always a weakest link. You'd be surprised how easy it is to ddos something with the right toolset (qualifications: network engineer @ NASA and a DISA certified sysadmin

                                                    That's crazy, I'm sure considering amount of traffic 4chan gets, it must be a hefty hosting fee. I'm surprised his webhost does not take appropriate measures to eliminate the attacks after such a long time.
