Simple: When you install Vista on your 64 bit Quad Core machine and it runs much slower than your 2-year old dual core machine with XP, then you know you've been suckered.

open up your machine first. Take a large slug hammer and hit the cpu directly. If you can count 64 bits left you had a 64 bit

or you could just go into the control panel and see but that is the wimpy way

if u have 2 program files folder on c:, it's 64
