Went out to a chain (gasp!) for pizza tonight. New law in California - no straws. Wife gets me a pepsi and returns in a cup with a lid on it, no straw. What's this? The lid is a sippy cup. LOL.

If I understand the law correctly, you are supposed to ask for a straw and then they can give it to you. Some places have just done away with straws completely.
I remember when they made the new law about bags. I don't remember if that was state wide or my local town. I was pretty annoyed first. You mean to tell me I have to bring a cloth bag into the store with me each time? Who has time for that? Eventually... I got used to it. I carry the bags in my car now. Do you know how many plastic bags I've used since this law went into place? None. I've gotten used to not using plastic bags, and the world is a slightly better place.

I went to Chick-fil-A two days ago and ordered their best item (the lemonade); they gave me a straw without asking.
Earlier in the day I was shopping at Ralph's; they give away plastic bags like candy. They are thicker than the cheap "one use" type, so that must be why they can do it.Comment

I stopped taking straws and plastic tops when I buy a coke. There are a couple of food courts in malls here now that serve food on real china and drinks in real glass, which are then washed and re-used. It's nice to see the backlash on disposable plastic. Hopefully governments push this alot further soon.Comment
