I think the new format could be a mistake for this reason. AskJolene is at the top of its class for searching for porn. That's what their surfers are there for. Now that it's switched to being a tube, it's competing against much much more established tube sites that provide all full-length videos and bigger communities. I think it would be much better if the new tube site was secondary to the search engine, so as not to alienate loyal surfers.Comment

First of all I would like to thanks all who helped us realizing this legal tube site and thank the people who congratulated us.
For those who have questions our business ethnics, I would like to clarify some of the statements that were made.
AskJolene is specialized in spidering, classifying and making large amounts of content easy accessible. We were the first that were able to list over 2.000.000 galleries on one site in a search interface with real time daily updates. We have used our technical advantages to automatically index basically every sponsor out there to keep AskJolene the most updated in the market as it still is today.
As far as the movie content, all our tube clips are legal as far as we know. We get our movie content from combining galleries clips from sponsors, clips sponsors provided us and bought content from licensed brokers.
Before adding the tube tab we have tested it for months and we have found the solution that works best for our site. As many will agree we needed to adjust to the market so we tested different tube formats before making a final decision. The outcome was to add a full tube section with over 500.000 clips, as we have now.
AskJolene is famous for it's gallery search, cam search and story search and still is. We haven't changed anything in these sections and still offer them with great success as before.
We manage to keep AskJolene compatible for the pornsurfers, profitable for our advertiser and competitive in the market without losing our business ethnics out of sight.Comment

Congrats on the launch! Work a little more on the design and the site is perfect for todays time. Im a bit disillusioned how todays designers (and site owners of course) cant bear in mind that people use widescreen monitors. Its a lame error. It's also this industries refusal to step up the product to a new level so they offer a better option then surfing a Tube site full of crap content. Most sponsors and affiliates are selling a product that has changed little in 8 years. Yes some sites are bigger and some have HD but it's obvious if Tubes are taking our paying surfers we are not good enough as a whole.
Tubes have ad space and upsells to support their sites.
Paysites have $1.00 (mostly) per member a day to support their sites.
So with an average of $1 a day per member why can't sponsors offer a better product?
Because many will now rush to Mike and buy traffic to replace traffic they lost. When we should be spending more on the product, offering more flexible and cheaper joins, more content and pulling the rug from under the Tube sites. They only exist because buying surfers are moving over to them.Comment

That's not the solution. Never was and never will be. The "stolen" content line is a dead end. Even if you had a water tight DMCA that applied all over the world Tubes would still be giving away content to earn money for the Tube owners with legal content.

Except there are no laws that stop it.
If I decide to turn my paysites into a Tube and live off the earnings from Adverts and upsells that is perfectly legal.
But if you run a Starbucks coffee shop and one opens next to you giving away coffer you have options.
Give away for free the product they sell. Yes we could all be giving surfers free live web cam shows and dating sites. OK not sure how to do Dating sites and maybe that needs working on. Short term results would we would lose some of our sales to Dating and Web cam sites. Long term results would be we save the paysite model by taking away the Tubes revenue source.
Tube sites prove we've been selling the product that suits us and not customers (if those customers are choosing Tubes over paysites). So we need to look at what is so appealing about Tubes and adapt to their models. Tons of content, big mix, drop in and out when you like. So over all better choices for the surfers.
Price. Not everyone wants to spend $30 for a few days a month. We need to realise the $30 @ 30 day model is wrong for a lot of out customers.
Stop forcing them to buy a months supply of a limited range of coffees, when all they want is coffee today and give away for free banana bread and cinnamon sticks.Comment

You forget to mention they will serve shitty coffee. All the Starbucks customers will go there once, maybe twice and then happily go back to Starbucks to PAY for GOOD coffee. The free coffee place will attract other people. People who never went to Starbucks in the first place. People who made coffee at home because they don't have money to spend on Starbucks coffee. Your problem is you are trying to think for millions of surfers, and that is totally illogical.
Not looking back up to be clear.. but I think they said they are still testing things. Anyway, it's still your opionion that a 4 hour movie is bad for surfers. It's not a one-way door..
I had GREAT free coffee at the SunFlower Market (my fav place to get free coffee) and while buying furniture, I had coffee and cookies. And while getting my haircut, I got a free mixed drink. And the car dealership, had starbucks coffee for free.. HOLY CRAP, while I jumped online for free, to compare prices on a free website. I was aswell a tube hater alot. But then just accepted it. It evolved. It will clear its flaws shortly. When applied to adult, it was a place to hunt amateur videos, remember. It became an ad tool. Shortly every sponsor will give his best to create the most converting adclips for these tubes, clips that do what they have to do: heat up the visitor enough to buy. Yes, a tube site is a simple directory, the current example shows it very well. True, it means the end of the odd 'bought up a pack of lame content for cheap and living off it for years' paysites and only the real market contestants will earn. As mentioned the customers make the choice and everything bends on their interest.
Its this simple, and it was present all the time, nothing has changed: ones are able to pay for luxuries and others dont. We all have needs, and even though the caffeine thing was almost a kudo for you, still, some of us are able to fulfill these needs on a higher level while others dont, or on a very low satisfaction level. Apply this to anything. Addictive, non addictive, doesnt matter. Not really. The difference is that anyone and everyone can figure out streaming video. Figuring out how torrents work is enough to slow most of the average porn surfers down.
