          As sick as this sounds, I would be fascinated to look inside their skulls.

          A long time ago I saw a documentary about this poor guy who had flesh eating disease on his face. They told him they would have to remove his nose, cheeks and the top of his mouth. Once they got in there they found it had spread to his eyes so they - fucking christ - had to remove both of his eyes. He work up blind with nothing but a big giant hole was where his face should be. Unable to see, unable to talk. Poor bastard. I'll never forget that.

              Holy fuck! Poor guy.

              You know... we live our lives every day and there's this whole underworld in our society of people who've just lost a body part or suffered a massive injury that they're on the long road to recovery and adaptation and society never knows it. We never see it. Maybe if our society saw more of that we'd be more companionate.
