Starting Monday, gay and lesbian couples in Iowa can marry, due to recent state Supreme court ruling

The wait for wedded bliss is finally over for same-sex couples in Iowa. Starting on Monday, gay and lesbian marriage is legal in the Hawk Eye State, due to the Iowa Supreme Court ruling on April 3rd in that the Iowa ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. Additionally, the Associated Press reports that a judge has allowed a couple to bypass the state?s three-day waiting period.
As of today, Iowa is the third state in the union to offer same-sex marriage. Massachusetts was the first state to allow same-sex union in 2004, followed by Connecticut last Fall. This coming September, Vermont, the first state with a legislature to approve same-sex marriage, will be the fourth added to the list.
