Both but push notifications especially. I got fed up with that little box asking for my permission the second I arrive at a site.

As such, Ive disabled it in my browser.

I wouldn't mind so much if I had spent a fair amount of time on a site, and that was because I was interested in the information I found there, that a little thing popped up when I was about to LEAVE...

But when I see a little pop up box saying 'Let us send you updates' and I have not even looked at the site yet (It hasn't even fully loaded) I think... FUCK THAT !

I hate moving the mouse of screen to adjust the volume and the exit screen splash page comes up blocking what I was trying to look at.

Perhaps the site should ask for notification permission after you have spent X amount of time on the site? Or after you read X article/viewed X movie?

That's an interesting idea. That would actually provide value instead of bombarding the user.

Those are some good ideas. I also wish browser makers didn't make it a popup but instead an option to receive push notifications came visible on the toolbar. There are some sites I would like updates from but I've disabled it in the browser due to popups on almost every site now.

Almost as intrusive as the popups begging you to subscribe to their newsletter... 2 seconds after you load the site for the very first time. Has someone actually done A/B testing on this - does this level of aggressiveness actually result in more net registrations - or do webmasters simply do it because they see it happening everywhere else?

i have allowed some sites whom i trust to push notifications, but every time i visit a new site they pop that alert to ask my permission, that i hate most.

What annoys me above all of this is those galleries with juicy gossip... But you gotta load a new page for each pic... Which triggers pops.

Like bro... Give me the fucking tea! Now!
