Fantastic analogy.
You are an idiot.
Agreed. He wasn't arrested for his thoughts and is free speech a guaranteed right there?
If you are going to play their game it helps to know their rules.
Too fucking bad.
No one put him in prison for his thoughts.Comment

David Duke is a piece of shit that is not worth the price of the bullet I would gladly put in his brain.... having said that the government prosecuting someone for their beliefs is wrong. I am well aware that Europe does not revere freedom of speech like the US but that does not change the fact that the criminalization of ideas is a very bad idea and inevitably leads to tyranny.
If you can criminalize David Duke's beliefs (however ridiculous and offensive they are) how long until denying global warming or being skeptical of the EU are considered dangerous and unlawful speech? It is a very slippery slope.бабки, шлюхи, силаComment

Or strung up in front of their families and hanged for that matter ;)Are you kidding me? he is arrested for DENYING THE HOLOCAUST?
he is a citizen of my state, its amazing at the length they will go to make you accept their way of thinking.
I do not agrewe with David Duke or the KKK, however, i do not think people should be imprisoned for not beliving something.Comment

Urge to fulfill a kinky fantasy?
I'd probably agree with Fletch if it wasn't for the fact that David Duke is a great big fucking douche bag.
Judging by that second line, you are pretty desensitized yourself. brassmonkey hopes that a former KKK leader gets penned-in with gay polar bears and your response is to wish that his entire family gets raped. Yup, that's sensitivity alright.Comment

So do you suggest that we TOLERATE people placing restrictions on our beliefs, regardless of how ridiculous they may be? I don't think so. TOLERANCE = putting up with evil, so where would you draw the line?
Would you tolerate pedophiles teaching in school?
Would you tolerate murder in the streets?
I urge you to lose the elitist attitude, and recognize that ALL of our beliefs, whatever they are, are in jeopardy, WORLDWIDE...Comment

Yes actually. You are. It's calling taking responsibility for your actions. I know that's never been a strong suit for most people... Being completely ignorant might be a default state for some people but it's no defense. No.. you do not go and deal porn in Saudi Arabia... No I can't come from Australia and open up a brothel in most of the US.. No I can't grow some weed for personal use there.. No.. you can't talk shit in an ex Nazi country. It's like complaining that the guy who brooke into the Lion's enclosure at the zoo and got eaten didn't get a fair shake.
Is it wrong that these countries have laws prohibiting free speech? Of course.. but... just.. dont... go .. there... No one put a gun to his head and forced him to poke the wasp's nest. It's not like he's some dupe with an extra bottle of duty free booze than is allowed.. he'd have known what he was potentially in for.Comment

Captain world police, no one is placing restrictions on your beliefs...those aren't your streets, those aren't your schools... If you've got that much of a hard on over it do something about it.. become a citizen over there and vote accordingly... or maybe you think the UN should make all the laws the same in all countries and you can have your NWO.So do you suggest that we TOLERATE people placing restrictions on our beliefs, regardless of how ridiculous they may be? I don't think so. TOLERANCE = putting up with evil, so where would you draw the line?

David Duke is the scum of the earth and a big fucking black eye on the State I live in.
That being said, he can stand up and deny the holocaust, jesus christ, gravity, or the theory of relativity and should be left the fuck alone.
If that really is a law in the Czech Republic then it's a stupid fucking law. Outlawing certain types of speech isn't how you stop the crazies from becoming powerful.
Allowing ALL types of speech is how you stop the crazies from becoming powerful.sig too bigComment

Conceptually the same thing except for the fact that the Czech person would not be arrested in the US for writing a book suggesting GWB was a war criminal and should be put to death.Originally posted by Jesus H Christ.... if a Czech person wrote a book that GWB (when he was President) is a war criminal and should be put to death and then was invited to give a speech in the US he would have been arrested too. I understand it's different circumstances, but conceptually it's the same thing.
Czech immigration should of denied him entry. I'd guess this was a set up.

The Secret Service/State Department wouldn't have let him in the country though.
Even so, really bad analogy. I'm not buying it.
People have the right to think and say whatever the hell they want (with the obvious exception of "fire in a crowded theater" and other such things).
Allowing David Duke to say whatever he wants is the only way I can know that Jesse Jackson is allowed to say whatever he wants.
Allowing right wing militia newsletters to print whatever they want is the only way I can know the New York Times is allowed to print whatever it wants.sig too bigComment

And who even decides they are neo-Nazi's. They may well be, but they just throw the label with no further information, I don't buy it. I love how Europe tries to lecture Turkey on making it illegal to allege the Armenian Holocaust. How is it any different? Fuck the thought police.I won't even claim to know Czech law but as holocaust denial is illegal there and the book includes the denial then would that book be illegal? If so, he is there to promote an illegal book.
Probably invited by the neo-Nazis to stick a finger up to their government and their government answered.ICQ: 637//961--015Comment

Two points (the first one not directed at you). Freedom of speech and thought should be a FUNDAMENTAL human right. It exists to protect speech the ruling parties DON'T like, not what they do. Secondly, sometimes the laws need to be challenged. If no one challenged the laws and accepted the status quo many of us would be burning as witches today. These cases have been getting a bit of attention lately (think David Irving), so him being charged is only more likely to shine the light on this bullshit (as is evident in this thread).Yes actually. You are. It's calling taking responsibility for your actions. I know that's never been a strong suit for most people... Funny, I thought you believed in human rights. Is free speech, thought and expression not included? Guess gay people should just stop being gay when they visit Saudi on business. Or else, if they get hung they should of obeyed the law right? Just because you or I wouldn't risk the prison sentence, doesn't mean anything. Yes, I'd obey the laws too. At times these laws need challenging though, and those of us who don't wish to put our lives on the line for it should not sit down and simply say "well that is the law" when another does.So if somebody comes to the States and breaks a law that isn't a law in their country that would be okay?
Yes, I believe part of being a tourist or traveling to another country is learning the basics of that country's laws.
If you went to a country where it is illegal to sell porn and you sold porn there then yeah don't get shocked if you get in trouble. If you are arrested because once somewhere in your life you sold porn but never in that country then that is a different matter.ICQ: 637//961--015Comment

Please. Do you think all those European countries maintain this ridiculous law for any other reason than to maintain favorable relations with the US whose #1 ally is Israel? Don't kid yourself. The people there have no love for jews, I would think by your very own logic (most people posting here) WWII has proven that. Europe is still a vassal state and until that changes you will see these ridiculous laws that originate from 1945 propagate themselves against all common sense.Comment

I doubt if he was arrested arrested for what he thinks. Unless you have developed a mind probe.
He was arrested, probably, for preaching the Holocaust did not happen. Thinking and preaching are two different things.Comment

perhaps the greatest irony of this thread is that misguided morons from another country are babbling on and on about constitution, rights and freedom while ignoring the obvious fact that CZ has those things adn through the democratic process, elected officials to represent the people and make laws in accordance to their own cultural tastes and needs... sounds pretty free to me.Comment

I think your right. Germany has some laws about the Nazi party and "paying tribute to Hilter" and stuff like that. This was a very dark moment for Europe and sit there and say it didn't happen is pretty damn stupid. No, she is right. You can't be a guest of another country and expect your country's laws to apply. I cannot go to Saudi Arabia and drink alcohol... I just can't, whether I think that's my freedom or not.
Not that I think he should have been arrested... I believe Germany has a similar law.Herschel Savage

no, not at all
everyone is fine with these laws and supports them. just not those for whose these laws were made - which is fine too. really - you can say whatever you want. out in the street or publish it in magazines, TV or books - you are free. just for historic reasons - and to prevent something like this happening again - it is considered a crime to deny that the holocaust and the killing of 6 million jews, homosexuals, gypsis and nazi opposers has happened. we don't want that here.Comment

what if someone says that only 2-3 millions jews died... Thats by definition a holocaust denier.. will that person get censored or worst, arrested ?no, not at all

i am no lawyer - but there have been lots of discussions the last 60 years about what happended without anyone getting arrested. actually i believe that the number of people who ever got prosecuted based on those laws is very very low.Comment
