I can't tell you how into We Are The World I was when it came out. I taped the HBO special about the making of when it came out and then put Willy Wonka right afterwards. That was probably the most repeat watched tape in my house growing up.

Also..as cheesy as it is now. Watch that and count the number of them that are still around and making music. You couldn't do a song like that now and have the same results this many years later. Same goes for British version (which as the base was a better song anyway).Comment

I remember that.
I wrote a game show question about it, I drive by the place where it was recorded two or three times a week (the old A&M Studios on La Brea near Sunset, originally built by Charlie Chaplin and now owned by the Jim Henson people) and I particularly remember that after the song was recorded and people were leaving, somebody offered Bruce Springsteen a security escort to his car (he had parked on the street) and he said, "No, thanks, I'll be all right."
Weird thing is, I don't feel a day over 40.
