I guess I don't understand the question

Are you talking about the redirects that are included in the embed code from the big tubes ?? So your talking about using something like the ken player that strips the video out of the embed, and then play it with your own player ??

I have used the Ken player in the past, and it's a real pain in the ass when it stops working and you have to wait for an update and shut it off

It would be pretty easy for them to block you if they wanted to, since the script curls the encoded embed before every person that hit's your site, so once your site starts to get popular, all they have to do is to block your IP. So you've spent all this time and energy building something that won't last beyond what the big tubes will put up with from people leaching their bandwidth, not really a great game plan for long term income

I see a lot of big sites without ken player.

Maybe better not to use it as you say.
