How about Parallels - a windows emulator - lets you run all those apps that you cant run on OSX... I had way too many programs that I missed from my windows computer - and now I can run them on my mac!
Slush is a video thumbnailer, it's still in beta, search for Slush on GFY and i guess you can find the programmer to request a beta. Really cool software.
R-name - for renaming batch files, this is the best I-view - trust me, you need it for work files, like iphoto but with batch changes/edit/rename features Fetch- Best FTP client, although I end up using other slower bulkier clients like netfinder and cyberduck if I need to open a bunch of windows at once or anything in bulk like setting permissions. TuneUp Great itunes add-on for cleaning your library up and auto adding covers and stuff
mpegstreamclip - absolutely essential for video editors. (I use it daily)
FCP HD studio 2
Lightroom
Filezila
Firefox
adium
Star Office (beta)- runs all Office files and more
I' wanna give that Slush a try, anyone find a good flash coverter? I have Sorrenson Squeze for mac now, but i must of done something fucked cus i keep getting the flip4mac Icon when converting wmv's to flash ... Oddly enough you get the full version of f4m in studio 2
HUGE MAC QUESTION >>> how the F---K do you change the presets for Skype!! fucker keeps launching on start up .. and I can't seem to find the settings in the preferences menu
Thanks for that. I'm trying out Interarchy now and so far it's awesome. Much closer to FlashFXP for the PC which is bar-none the best FTP client ever created. I've been trying to find a decent FTP client for Mac. Filezilla was the best I had found so far. I don't understand all the love for transmit. I can't stand it.

You can remove it from the list of startup apps in system preferences. I'm not at my mac or I could explain it better.

Quicksilver is the only real way to open apps and folders
Quicksilver used to be good, but hasn't it stopped being dev'd for EONS?
I switched to LAUNCHBAR and find it MUCH better.
My 5:
Launchbar - first thing I ever install on a new mac
Text Expander - fucking genius app, you teach it some shortcuts for words, URLS, phrases you type frequently. And it then inserts those longer phrases.
Tweetie - great iphone twitter app now ported to OSX
Eclipse with PDO and Subversion - integrated dev environment
Handbrake - video transcoder
FireFox - duh
OpenOffice - I hate Microsoft
Quicksilver - application access utility
ffmpeg - video transcoder - command line
darwinports - mechanism for accessing over 6000 other apps

ya might want to try Mpegstreamclip to replace ffmpeg ... I did, it's a great app for transcoding
