    ****Wiki Recommendations

I’m looking for a ****Wiki software recommendation. I’ve looked at WikkaWiki and DokuWiki through Softalicious.

Basically I want people to type in a word and get an answer. For example, FoodWiki would have you type in Kiwi Fruit, and in response you’d get a picture of a kiwi plus a description of where it’s from, how you peel, how you eat, etc.

Visitors can add to it but I have to approve all entries. Same with public edits.

Text vs database isn’t too important but my preference is database.

Format of php is preferred. No java****** please.

I want simple to use, simple to enter, simple to set up.

Built-in notifications on updates via email list needed but an outside script is fine. Click to sign up, dB addition, then I click to type updates and hit send.

I’ve not been inside a script for it yet so some of this may be standard. Oh, yeah, I want it at no cost ;)

I’m totally unfamiliar with Wiki stuff. I was going to do this blog style and create a post for each entry, then saw a Wiki page and realized it’s easier and cleaner.

Isn't Wikimedia that most popular? I could be wrong.

Thanks. Looked it up and decided I’d be better off downloading a dozen to my laptop, installing in an unused domain, and testing each out. I’ll get a feel for using it, seeing how it runs and then checking server load for each.

I was going to try tonight but my laptop isn’t where I left it. Rather than a stranger looking for it, I’ll wait until tomorrow.

I did that for support ticket software. Tried seven programs and went with OSticket.
