All the millions they make are being divided up by thousands upon thousands of webmasters and sponsors. What you want is (if you know how to market it) some very specific, under-represented niche. You would have to go with either the teen or MILF niche. They are the most sought after, with plenty of traffic for both. I think the amateur niche is coming up as well. Guys want to see real teens or real MILF's naked, not some photoshopped girl. What you need to find out is what niche suits you best. That way you can find the traffic and make the money working it.

I do real well in my niches (amateur, teen, sisters and twins) but not everyone does. On the other hand, I can't sell tranny or MILF for shit. Maybe it's because I prefer women with real tits and no cocks.
A lot has to do with the fact that I know these niches and have been building traffic in them for years. I can also relate to the guys and girls that buy in these niche - I can't relate well to the guys that want to watch things like sleep assault, mature women, or gay - so I don't try to sell to them.

If youre a newb I think its really hard to make "bank" with teens or milfs anymore because there are sooooo many other people working the exact same areas, youre going to get lost in a sea of the same thing. Especially trying to compete with big players who spend 6 figures a month promoting their stuff. Plus the internet is flooded with teen and milf stuff especially on tubes, how can you compete with that?
Plus the retention wont be so hot because theres so much of it.
I think if you're starting out now in 2009, 12 years late in the game, the best way to make money is to microniche because youll have fewer competition and more dedicated fans who will buy anything you have to offer.
If you insist on doign teen I think youll need to have exclusive content and watermark everything in order to make it.

Don't ask what niche sells for other people, ask yourself what niche interests you.
I started in June 1998 creating sites about topics that gave me a boner. Because I "write" about subjects that originate from the core of my own sexual desires and fantasies, I still have a blast doing the same old shit over a decade later.
Of course, I'm a trusted resource in my niche, so any advice I can offer has to be qualified. Have fun, pick a topic you enjoy, be patient. Shit, even in 1998 I had to wait a couple of months to make any serious cash.

This isn't necessarily true. Once or twice a year some upstart comes along and usurps my Google rankings, knocking me down a notch or two. When this happens I keep plugging along, and they leave their sites to stagnate. What follows is that their sites fall off the map, and mine return to the top.
I LIKE the topic I'm focused on, and I've stuck it out. This is a fun fucking business to be involved in. Its a great job.Comment

If you don't you need to go around and look for sites not getting millions of hits a day. Yet still have what the surfer needs.
The days of sending traffic and thinking it's going to buy what ever it sees are long gone. The surfer is the KING and it's him that decides to buy.
