op at least we can keep our submarines from blowing up and sinking.. How many subs has Russia lost since the challenger blew up?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...ear_submarines
Hell you guys are the only country to ever sink the same sub twice...

K-429: A Project 670A Charlie I-class sub sank twice, once at sea from flooding during a test dive, then two years later, from flooding at her moorings. A total of 16 crew lost their lives in the first incident. Raised after each sinking, K-429 was decommissioned two years after the second incidentIn November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.Comment

No, you can't. The "Kursk" was attacked by the American submarine. I will repeat: it was attacked. Unfortunately Putin is an US ass kisser and he didn't respond. Because he is a fuckin' pussy.

The normal president would send a couple of SS-18 Satans to NYC and LA (that's fatally enough for both cities). Yes, I think so. If I was a president I would did that (maybe sounds harsh but I really would). Just wait when Putin will die of his cancer and the normal president will come to power in Russia and everything will changes. Just believe me...
In case of K-19 it was a real catastrophe and people have died to not turn it into Fucushima.

and he's pointing to damage sustained when unequalized pressure caused implosions of copartments, from it slamming into the ocean floor and from trying to raise it as proof that it was sunk by those stupid americans with shitty, second rate technology.
I was in Russia at the time watching this unfold... and... the sailors died... why? because Putin didn't allow help that was already on the scene to save them. imagine being a Russian Submariner and sitting in water and pitch black and cold, tapping out SOS on the hull for days, knowing your own government is not only incompetent and inept... but that doesn't value human life in any way... even when it's their own citizens.
But uhm... yeah. America / NATO..

Are you an idiot? They have used standard torpedos. The problem that Putin is a pussy to nuke the USA after that. Every normal president would do it almost instantly.Obey the CowgodComment

Yeah, you're right. Putin should have pointed his arsenal of painted rust at the USA. That would have been a brilliant move. The Russian military got their asses kicked for 4 years by a fist ful of jihadis in Chechnya armed with only small arms and no tanks, planes, artillery, armor etc against 100k Russian soldiers and the entire force of the Russian military.
It would be a shame to have watched those poor Russian soldiers have to face an actual army.... in an actual military conflict against someone armed with more than knives and AK-47s..

If i recall correctly, I think the Russians first action was to deny assistance saying they were all dead anyway. Then people started tapping SOS on the hull..... for days... and days. People were pretty fucking pissed in Russia about how the government dealt with it..

Vice-Admiral Valery Ryazantsev differed with the government's official conclusion. He cited inadequate training, poor maintenance, and incomplete inspections that caused the crew to mishandle the weapon. During the examination of the wrecked sub, investigators recovered a partially burned copy of the safety instructions for loading HTP torpedoes, but the instructions were for a significantly different type of torpedo and failed to include essential steps for testing an air valve.

I'm starting to remember now... once they finally relented and allowed limited help - it revolved around the Kursks "escape hatch" (subs all have them) and a special diving bell designed to attach to it to extract crew.
The Russians wouldn't let the other crews with the proper equipment anywhere near the Kursk, had to keep staging attempts to transfer it all to them so they could do it themselves... then in addition to becoming the usual Russian clusterfuck, there were issues because of all the non standard sized hatches etc... they couldn't attach it to the hatch on the Kursk and on and on it went until the SOS taps slowed down to nothing, grew more faint and finally quit.
And no, Russians were not mad at the USA. They were pissed at the ineptitude of their own government, the constant lies and the fact that they basically allowed 118 Russian sailors to die for no reason at all.
Kind of like how they assaulted the moscow theater in the Nord Ost debacle with gas to knock everyone out, then dragged out all the weak, exhausted, dehydrated and starved victims onto the street (away from the bombs) and many died on laying on the sidewalk because they didn't have the fucking brains to stage emergency services to deal with it. That was fucking sad. They actually killed all the terrorists and no bombs were detonated... and all these people died laying on the sidewalk because they didn't get proper medical attention (or any at all).
But yeah... Russia competent... America incompetent. Got it..

As a result of this thread, I did learn ruski soyez has virtually the same safety record as the space shuttle.
I hadn't bothered to crunch the numbers on that all the previous times ruski tried to attack US using the shuttle tragedies.Comment

If i recall, their first claim was that it collided with a US sub as NATO subs were monitoring their maneuvers. I vaguely remember them showing video of blue paint marks on the side of the Kursk hull (as it lay on the bottom) which they were trying to say came from another sub making contact with it.
Then other nations offered recorded auditory and other proof that it simply wasn't the case. Then they changed course to saying they might have been attacked. Then eventually they admitted the torpedo exploded. I think it was the NATO side that first made the claim that a torpedo exploded, while Russia denied every bit of it (as they always do) until they were beat into submission with evidence..

I consulted for a company that managed some of these Super Trawlers in Russia. They were commissioned by the Soviet Government and built in Spain. I think there was 16 of them in total. Soviet Union collapsed and they sat for years at the shipyard in Spain (Vigo?)
So this what a $25,000,000.00 super trawler looks like. They had 16.

In less than 10 years....
Here is that exact ship. I think that almost of them were burned for insurance by the Russians. It's much easier to scam an insurance company 25 Mil than to have successful fishing seasons. I know at least 7 of the 16 burned. One burned in the shipyard in Vancouver BC (the FV Stimul i think), we had 2 collisions at sea just while I was on board... one of which sank a 142' Russian trawler. There are just no words to describe how incompetent these people were.

NOTE: they kept renaming them all and reflagging them and filing bankruptcy to get out of paying their bills and crews... which is why names, paint etc changes..

For rockets and aircrafts? The Russian lifesaving systems are best in the world. Just a few days ago one has saved a life of the American citizen, while the American-made shuttle would kill him with a 100% probability. Colombia and Challenger cases show it very clear.
As about submarines... I don't know about such systems for them....Obey the CowgodComment

The crew of Soyuz 11 were killed after undocking from space station Salyut 1 after a three-week stay. A cabin vent valve accidentally opened at service module separation. The recovery team found three crew members dead.

There was also a parachute failure with Soyuz 1 capsule where another russian was killed.Comment

Yes, I posted that above. We lost 3 at once and also we lost another one because of a parachute system failure. It's not a secret that Soviet Union has lost 4 cosmonauts during the landing. Actually only a parachute system failure was unpreventable. The other 3 guys have died because... they had no hermetic suits. The soviet government thought it's a good way to fit 3 cosmonauts into one landing capsule. Otherwise only 2 would be able to use it. After that incident of course the changes were made, but yes we lost 3 people at once. The crew of Soyuz 11 were killed after undocking from space station Salyut 1 after a three-week stay. Not true, and not funny. Come on man.. von Braun was a Nazi, yes, but Rockwell and Boeing made some great rockets since then. What happened to those poor bastards was a terrible, tragic accident.
Anyway, Glad to know that the safety system worked out and that these 2 guys made it back to earth alive and well.Comment

Who said it was funny? Tell it to Aidsfag who smiles on 18 dead US astronauts. We lost 4 and all of them during the landing procedure (in the landing capsule). Nobody has died in the rocket. There were two incidents in 1983 (the people were catapulted from from the launch pad) and in 2018 (they there ejected in the outer space). In both cases the crews were successfully saved.
In case with Challenger, for example, the crew had no chances. Just imagine you are inside the shuttle, you know it's going to be destroyed because the busters are leaked but you have no lifesaving system...
This is what happened to Soviet rocket with cosmonauts in 1983:
Yes, everybody it alive. What happened to the Challenger's crew we all saw too. And yes again, it's not funny at all. The people w/o a lifesaving system are doomed.Obey the CowgodComment
