Then let them run around in a moving vehicle at 70 mph (no cage) just waiting to kill someone. I especially like it when the owner is also talking on a cell, eating a big mac, and smoking while driving. If you call that driving.

Skufty IS my best friend.

I told his mother when he was 6 weeks old I would always take care of him, been through a marriage, several girlfriends, a few homes but he's the ONE stable thing in my life.

I have no idea what I would do without him.

you're mostly right - people whose ONLY friends are animals have psychological/social issues - that's alot different than somebody who says that their "best friend" is a pet

what those people mean is that their best friend pet is totally dependent on them, like a child, returns unconditional love and gratitude to them and is always there for them - which is a lot more than you can about human friends usually.

exceptions would be old people who have no family nearby or family that ignores them and their friends are gone - for them pets may truly be their best and only friends.

dogs always greet you with happy, faces.
They love you unconditionally no matter how much money you have, what you look like or where you're from.

A dog is a great friend but it shouldn't be your only friend

Meta Man is right that pets don't take the place of human interaction, but I think they certainly add to life in another, different but also very fulfilling way.
