                                                          In my case the cops arrived within about 5 minutes. I presume they gave it priority because it was a "hot" burg.

                                                          It's worth calling them for a couple of reasons...

                                                          1. When a stranger has just broken through your front door and waved a tire iron at you it's somewhat reassuring to see the police.

                                                          2. Even if the perp is not caught the crime itself goes into a database and may ultimately help with getting more manpower assigned to this neck of the woods. If we didn't report crimes then some bureucratic monkey who's never even been to my suburb would conclude that everything is fine and we can lose a few men from the local station...

                                                          (Hmmm, why did I just bother typing out this reply when the whole thread is based on a line from a troll?)
