I find that funny. And Not. Since the dossier was well documented well before the election that trump was expected to loose. Paid for originally by members of the republican party, and not used but continued to be available opposition research that the Clinton folks paid to see and did nothing with and later discovered after the author was in fear of his life.

The spying/surveillance was in line not for trump but that is where it led them.
Should they have stopped because it led them to his office ?
The criteria is pretty steep in obtaining these and even worse to follow in a new step or direction.

But as a personal note, since I had followed trump back in the 90's, I find the whole dossier thing completely plausible because trump really hates obama and everything he stands for.
The symbolic pissing all over a bed after f'n whores he slept in is just what he has tried to do in real life with anything he has touched. After all, according to trump, obama is not a American citizen.
