Requirement: Must be a warm place.. and lots to do around there..
Panama is fun but I dont really speak spanish so its a challenge meeting people, etc.. im a guy who has lots of friends and makes everyone laugh, etc, i cant do that when i dont understand the language....
I am in West Palm Beach, and it's a good time. We have Ft. Lauderdale and Miami to the south. But if I were you, I'd shoot to live in Ft. Lauderdale for more things to do.
I'm at Hollywood, FL on Ocean Dr. which is in the middle of Ft. Lauderdale and South Beach..
I drive North 30 min. or South 30 min. for my party destinations..
Instead of tornado season you have hurricane season. It rains for like five minutes and never much longer. During the summer it rains everyday at 3 PM until 3:15 PM - you can set a watch by it, lol. I miss those long hard terenchal rain storms I use to get in the Midwest. Lightning is a serious killer down here.
Beaches are plentiful but the good ones always seem to be 30+ miles away - doesn't matter where you are. In the winter you can't go to store because it takes 45 minutes to go a block. Canadians and other "snowbirds" clog all the roads.
There is NO income tax only federal. Which means you might save a little come tax season. Its also insanely hot. Not really because of the temperature but because of the 98% humility.
Floridians totally blow off Halloween at least here in SWFL. I usually go back up north in October to visit family and get my secret fill of festive brouhaha. It never really feels like Christmas down here either. Kind of hard to get into the mood when its 90 degrees outside and people are stringing lights on brown palm trees. Yeah, the lawns usually look like shit do to lack of rain (during some seasons).
Native Floridians call themselves crackers. That's usually funny to first comers for at least 12-24 months. Cracker(s) means something totally different up north, lol.
So, all in all its okay but its differently not an escape.

When I was a teenager I used to work maintenance and the security booth at Presidential Towers on Ocean Dr. They used to have these wine baskets that they would give to the new residents, and they had a whole storage room full of them, so this chick that worked there and I used to hole up in unoccupied rooms and spend our weekends off getting trashed and having sex. Damn those were good times, I miss South Fla...
its very nice actually..
hot latinas, nice weather, no last call at night clubs, beaches everywhere, etc.
huh? I've bounced clubs in south Florida, lived in south fla for over 15 years ... which night clubs has no last call? The only one i know of with a 24hr liquor license is Space in Miami. Everyone else last call is between 2-5am, even earlier in some areas. Even strip clubs are usually closed by 5am.
Florida is nice ... its a nice place to visit that is. Florida has almost no economy, a fucked housing market, insane insurance (if you can get it). I95 at multiple points is always under construction. Palm Beach has some good spots, as with Miami, the rest is kinda so-so.
But to each his own, if you move to Florida prepare to move sloooooowww, as we are infested with old ass people with one foot in the grave the other on the gas peddle.
The bright side - BEACHES are NICE!!!!
Good Luck.

J'Ville....is considered South Georgia....and is mainly subsidized by the Navy....Mayport. Strip clubs get raided frequently since its more in Florida's Bible belt.
Orlando is strictly TOURIST town/TRAP..... strip clubs get raided frequently and they HATE any type of hookers...streetwalkers/call girls. Disney runs the show here and they want to keep it squeaky clean for the mouse.
Tampa....has Gasparilla and Guavaween in Ybor....and home of the world famous Mons Venus. Hell we hosted the last Super Bowl at Raymond James Stadium and are Home to the reigning 2008 American League Champions the Tampa Bay Rays. Things can get off the hook there...but it ain't MIA or SoFL.
Miami-Dade/Broward/Palm Beach (Tri-county area) has a LOT to offer including SPACE right next to GOLD RUSH (strip club) and SOUTH BEACH! Be sure to get a "sun pass" so you can get in the express lanes and get through the toll booths quicker. If you?re under 45 I would recommend SoFL because there is ALWAYS something to do....food, clubs (dance/strip), and just other fun shit....They also have a nice commuter rail as well if you don?t really like driving?..its called the TRI-Rail.
Don?t even bother with SW Florida......its all a retirement community.....I cant tell you if Gainesville (UF), Tallahassee (FSU) or Panama city.
The housing market got really fucked down here in South Florida...you can pick up a sweet home for a low price. We are talking about mansions that are now available at good prices.
btw, how much are condos in Florida in a decent to nice area ? i heard you can pick up condo for 50g's ? responses much appreciated
Im not a real estate agent, but 50g's is unlikely within a nice area, unless your crafty and pick up a tax note or something like that.
Nice Areas are select areas of Palm Beach, Jupiter, PGA, Boynton Beach, Boca Raton. So would argue Del Ray. There are others but if your even thinking 50 g's no need to mention them. All the above places close by 2am, with rare exceptions. You also have Miami - downtown and south beach are nice.
But dont come with 50 g;s come with at least 150 g's and be prepared to NEG hard. The nice stuff starts at 300+ with a few rare exceptions. The amazing stuff begins at 500-750k.
Good Luck

35+ years in the Tampa Bay area (Gulf beaches) and still love it!
I love Tampa!!! It is a really nice place to come home to after traveling. A little quieter than it is down South, but really beautiful and not as hot.
Don?t even bother e there is ALWAYS something to do....food, clubs (with SW Florida......its all a retirement community.....I cant tell you if Gainesville (UF), Tallahassee (FSU) or Panama city.
There isnt much to do in gainesville, you have your different dance clubs. and one strip club that is kind of close. Alot of college girls from different areas of the states. You have 2 beaches to your left and right which both are about an hour and a half away.

are there any beach houses/pads for rent in hollywood FL?
All i really want is just a house on the beach.lol dont know why i cant find that anywhere..
There aren't that many houses on Hollywood Beach, with all the newer hotels and condos nowadays. Those that are there are usually occupied by owners. Most of them are old houses and grandfathered in, so they can't improve or rebuild the houses either. I have a friend who lives right on the beach, with no ac. It's a neat house but I wouldn't want to live there. Not that comfortable and too much sand blows in the house.
You can probably find nicer modern houses on the beach with more privacy around the Broward coastal area, from Pompano down through Fort Lauderdale down to Hollywood. But it's a matter of luck what is available, Try one of the local rental agencies and tell them what you want and you might get lucky.
Orlando is strictly TOURIST town/TRAP..... strip clubs get raided frequently and they HATE any type of hookers...streetwalkers/call girls. Disney runs the show here and they want to keep it squeaky clean for the mouse.
that sums up orlando alright. the only way you're not fucked with there is if you've got out of state tags and a map on your dash. i'm moving to either tampa or miami in 2 weeks and can't wait...
We lived in Ft. Lauderdale for seven years. Haulover Beach is a legal nude beach, Trapeze swing club and wonderful weather 9 months of the year (summer is a little rough).
its very nice actually..
hot latinas, nice weather, no last call at night clubs, beaches everywhere, etc.
Orlando theoretically has the most to do. you are no more then 70 minutes from the beach in any direction. we have kennedy space center, all major theme parks, great theme reasturants, DID I MENTION ROLLER COASTERS. major league baseball spring training and magic basketball. orlando predetors arena football when it comes up. the latinas are bitches here. we have a bunch of night clubs in downtown. LAST CALL IS AT 2 AM. lots of local bands. plenty of rich areas to visit. terrible traffic! a huge convention center. a new arena opening in 2010 for the basketball season. lots of ho's from craigslist. our heat is a humid hot so it sucks. our cold is a humid cold so what is 50 degrees feels like a stingy 28 to most people. i can walk around ohio in short sleeves and jeans and be fine in 32 degree weather, in orlando im freezing in 55 degree weather. we have orange trees. we will be getting a 400 ft ferris wheel by 2010 as well in orlando. anything else ill let ya know. ohhhh yeah HURRICANES that is from june 1st to november 1st. sometimes they come after but rare.
