    If it's bad news, perhaps they should say something different !

    What is 'GOOD NEWS' for conservatives ?

          Google has some extremely useful products, but its political bias is nothing new.

          This is a pretty long interview with the fired Google engineer James Damore (his ultimate sin was to mention that men and women are different, he was fired on the spot).

          If anyone has time to listen to this in the background etc. it's rather interesting:



          There's many examples that you can verify on your own in real time where you see the bias right away.

          Different search results for Google.com "american inventors" and google.es "inventor americano" being the least harmful of those.

          Then again, I am sure many will be fine with a company that has a practical monopoly on the internet information utilizing political bias, even using (largely discredited) private organizations such as SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) and ADL (Anti Defamation league) in order to "filter" their search results (or manually modify them). As long as it benefits their team.

                  It appears to be that he really is angry that Russia can not plant fake stuff on google, facebook and others.
                  At least, not as easily.

                  Must be a testament that google and facebook have eliminated many of the fake outside influences.

                          The research was biased/flawed. It's my understanding that the subset of conservative news outlets they used for comparison only included a handful, like 3-4.

                                      Thanks for the info. I knew net neutrality affected ISP's but I wasn't sure if Google fell in that realm because they have Google Fiber and they have a lot of partnerships with companies like Verizon.

                                                      You all do Search Engine optimization in one form or another.
                                                      If you are going to take action against skewed searches, shouldn't this be illegal according to trumps claim.
                                                      You are skewing search results, perhaps even outside of true content search merit.
                                                      It's all the same ! Think about it hard before promoting any position.

                                                              Name one thing Google has done to stifle competition. They became what they are simply because they did it better. They didn't buy up all their competitors, nor are they using their position to artificially raise prices to consumers.

                                                                                                                  The old keyword list are not used anymore. Google combs the site and determines themselves what they are. Matching that with 'search words and phrases' with weight given by engagement.

                                                                                                                  So you could have a site on the sex life of ants and if you are not using the right words in content or have the most interesting pages deeper in the site, it is likely to rank low.
                                                                                                                  Use the wrong words and likely be marked as a adult site.

                                                                                                                  Not saying I agree with it all. You could loose your life's blood if a algorithm changes. And they do in attempts to lower the results of those with no real content. (spoofing search)

                                                                                                                  But my experience has been all the attempts to spoof the seo require constant work to keep it on par. Your just after the traffic and you don't care how you get it. While if you just do it the natural way, it is so much less work. But it does require real content. And that is what many are hoping to get away with. Getting traffic for adds/leading to sales from little to no real content or misleading content.

                                                                                                                  But don't forget you have page rankings, article rankings and site rankings.
                                                                                                                  Analytics may show you only one of these somewhat, but google is tracking more than their own analytics platform is showing you.

                                                                                                                  It's as much work to keep doing continuous seo as it is to do real content. But less frustrating. Content authors do not realize their true value.

                                                                                                                  How can anyone argue trumps claim when it is possible to spoof the results.
                                                                                                                  Company's do it in a effort to 'drown out their competitors' when possible even with 3rd party sites (hired seo specialist co's). As applied to politics, that is part of the Russian election meddling is about. Put up fake/misleading content and artificially drive up the seo value. Well, apparently, the algorithms have changed.
