I can see them charging that much money for a speech at any event. Just take conferences for example. Having an ex-president speak will draw a big crowd. People pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for their passes + the revenue made by companies advertising at the conferences. The $100k+ fee is usually well worth it.
As for book deals. Yeah I could imagine them making big money from that as well.
Consulting? Increase a billionnaire's business by 1-2% and you're cut could be quite substantial.
I don't think its totally unreasonable to assume they are making that kind of money with their image. Look at other celebrities doing the same thing. Hell, even when Trump is done with office he will make serious bank selling his image.
