    Brits ID 2 Russians as attackers in the nerve agent attacks

              Exactly. A simple knife which everyone can buy in a hunter shop is still the most preferred weapon of assassins in 21st century. You don't have to transfer it through country borders, customs etc. It's 100% silent and much more effective than any known poison, infection or even a gun or a bomb. You stab your victim and see the result just instantly from the most closest distance.

                                              Litvienienko and Skripal cases are basically the same. Motive - you just don't "betray" company that you worked for. Because company will take its painful revenge. And these deaths are like signals to the others that wanted to be new Litvienko or Skripal.
