This article really broke my heart because ANYONE can lose a loved one to drugs. Which brings up the question for this poll.

I knew a guy that smoked a shit load of weed. He was also an alcoholic. Mostly brought on my his dad dying when he was young (by alcohol).
Anyway, he was also schizo and he has also gone at the ripe old age of 35. -
I would say it is a medical condition that is party a physical issue and part a mental issue.
The crazy thing about addiction is that you often don't realize you have a problem with it until it is too late.Comment

Both 2 and 3. When my alcoholism started it was a mental issue. However, once I was aware of that, it was also a physical illness as in if I didn't drink, I became physically ill. I was physically dependant upon it to function normally. So both really.
Its not a moral issue at all, and also not a lifestyle choice if you are properly addicted, physically dependant and cannot function without taking the drug in question.Comment
