Ya know what. You're right. It was said out of frustration, and it was the wrong thing to say. To any webmaster I offended, I'm sorry. It is a strange market place where sincere open request to make deals is un opened and not responded to, but calling everyone mono-syllabic-foot-shuffling mouth breathers brings hundreds of responses.
Truly my bad.
Johnny V
Why don't you quote any one of the 2 post I quoted from Doc and put this much time into a response?
Seems you are only jumping on the negative posts and Aren't even trying to touch on the very good and valid points Doc brought up....
Sarah, I have been around since 1998 and you are one of the women I admire most. Always have been and will most likely always be. Don't waste your time on haters.
You make me blush I think you are the bee's knees!
That's the wrong directly in marketing I'm talking about. You already chat and are friendly, you help people, etc - thus you will get the newbies. Just sucks we need so many to make a difference.
Ok.. fair enough.
You want my traffic.. I'm like most Webmasters. I have my bulk traffic source that does crap across 40 sponsors. And then I have my two sponsors that I actually make money with, that I put some focus into.
So you... Post on GFY and forums, your cool, nice.. I'm sure the newbies eat it up. And maybe I think you 'could' make me some money... But, why would I move?
I have Sponsor A: They saw me post a domain, they contacted me, dev'ed the domain for me, I paid for nothing - they even bought a link for it. Sponsor B: Hits ME up, I tell them "I want you to build these 3 domains for me"... When they are done, I'm pushing them - my job is to promote it - not build it. Sponsor C: Sends me a gift, a free dell mini - and I haven't sent them a sale.
It has nothing to do with what they are doing for me, it could be anything. It's the fact that they are working for me, I'm not working for them...
You want Webmasters to hit YOU up... you have it backwards.
I guess the idea that you have 30k posts vs. my 6k posts - is my point. How could you have time to post 30k times and work one-on-one with the every possible Webmaster you can?
Oh, I totally get what you are saying and I (and the rest of the company) spend a lot of time going to webmasters ourselves..both existing and potential. However, there are going to be a lot that you can't reach without making them know you are there first.
There are more than a few people on this board - and in this thread actually - that know that I spend a lot of time working one on one with affiliates and getting them what they need and being proactive with their needs too. Actually, that is part of what I enjoy the most of the job. Max Cash loves to work one on one with affiliates and we are very happy to do things like custom landing pages and the like because we know that is what is often needed by affiliates. I simply say that a lot of people might be intimidated and not know they can ask for that sort of thing.
As far as my post numbers go..it is over many years and my posting has slowed down a lot but I just talk a lot..or did.
That being that most people here see 50 bullshit marketing posts a day on this forum. It's great that you guys pay a $35 PPS and on time every pay period. So do 500 other similar programs. Just because you post a thread saying you'll make someone money doesn't make it true, otherwise the MLM industry would be filled with millionaires.
Those with traffic need substance to draw interest, not gimmicky posts.
Wow just noticed your join date Sarah... You have one month on me and 30k. Guess I'm not that wordy..lol
I would really love to hear JohnnyV's take on the first post Doc made about this...
And this isn't even my first account..before I worked for anybody but myself I was Sjayne..I was on GFY pretty much from the start. I was on PCBBS before that when it was the big hangout and then people moved here.
For a while back there I just chatted a LOT so the posts added up really fast. Most of those are in threads that just go on for ages with people having a conversation so there are a lot of posts.
Secondly, it is very possible that I am not marketing correctly. That is apparent by the success of the first post and the length of this one. I am not someone who believes that I know better than everyone else, and that my word is the be all and end all.
Having said that I have had, I do have, and continue to have several very successful marketing campaigns in this space. It is my first time attempting to speak openly with affiliates, and obvioulsy my very straight forward post openly requesting business did not have one response. I will take your input. How should I do it. I'm not sure how to better check in with affiliates than by saying we will (I will) look into what you are sending and how consistant you can be and pay you accordingly.
I respectfully disagree that 14 years and 1/2 a billion dollars in payouts is meaningless. Max Cash is a proven entity and paying out that much HAS to mean something. Are we old school? Are we yesterdays news? No. Are we actively saying that while people are complaining about payouts from other progranms and bitching about the economy, we are making more money than we have in years.
Yes, we did have a panel in Phoenix that (in a nut shell) was a question if the affiliate model was still necessary. I want to say for the record that I believe that it is. It is important to realize however that the market has changed and that the model has changed. When Adult revenue is down (depending on who you ask) 10-30% it is imperative to look at new stradegies and solid preformers. Affiliates should do this, and programs should do this.
I believe that affiliates have made so many demands on the programs $75.00 payouts and 50% recurring for life as an example, that the model cannot support itself. At that point if you cannot pay out what an affiliate wants you have two choices, lower payouts or find a way to get the joins from a different source; probably internally. It is my belief that that should scare some affiliates.
Look we are who we are. We have been here a long time. We are making more money and converting better than we have in a while. I want folks to join us in that. Period.
yeah what would i know about what sells, i only send sales to the 121 different programs i have on my stats remote. i even sent over 10k in sales to maxcash. that was about 10 or 11 years ago, back when they sold good.
There are a number of reasons why affiliates don't like to have to contact sponsors individually to negotiate a better payout deal. For one, you will never know if you got as good a deal as others that may even be sending less traffic. I think it is better to be transparent about it and just offer tiered payouts if you do not already.

I understand what you're saying but there are other perks to having personal relationships and communicating with sponsors. Whether it be special payouts ... or having custom creative made ... or special linking codes ... or landing pages ... or gaining inside information about new unsaturated sites ... or getting badges for shows taken care of ... or any number of other things.
Also, I feel the more people you're in communication with the more $$$ making opportunities arise ... at least that's my experience
I made a shitload of money with Maxcash in 1999-2001, it's was great !!!
And i still loves maxcash, im sure they have good relationship with their banks and as Johnny said, it's what matters, you can be sure they will not have their merchant account shutdown overnight like it is more likely to happen with a "new" program
Go MaxCash!
€1 trials - XML of our 10,000 webcams - Sub-account tracking - Iframed payment forms - DHTML pops
The only affiliate program listed on NYSE Euronext - DNX.PA http://www.theadultcompany.eu - usa (at) theadultcompany.com - ICQ 81-698-877
I can't differentiate your sites from most of the other big programs out there... none of whom I promote... why? Saturation, market demand, etc etc. Your content is exactly like the content I can find on every large traffic site on the net... as an affiliate, I have found that I need to market to consumers that are looking for something else... and that would be... Real Amateur Content... not the bullshit that big programs pass off as amateur. Maybe if you thought outside of the box you could generate more affiliate sales.
Something to mention is there's at least a few affiliates that dislike dealing with companies with multiple affiliate managers, especially ones that do their own affiliate promotions. It's not unheard of to have them sniff through your account for traffic sources, then applying the info for themselves.

Go MaxCash!
Having been around as long as they have, Max Cash (and other large programs) have been able to determine exactly where all the frailities in the process are. By making sure the infrastructure is sound, you can grow a stable program. That should be attractive to thoughful webmasters, because at the end of the day, it is all about getting paid; and being sure you are going to get paid again tomorrow.
BTW: I like being refered to as "old school" it means we've been here a long time. Any updates deemed necessary, can be updated, any "changes" that need to be made, can be. One thing you can never change, (or fake) is time. Time = experience, both good and bad, and in this space, that could not be more important.
No doubt that is a great post and has caused me to laugh out loud every time I see it. I liked the movie, and I liked the post; very funny and funny is good! Yeah, I probably was a little frustrated when I put out that post, and I had no idea it would go this long.
I'm glad it did for two reasons: 1) it allowed us to eventually get to a meaningful discussion regarding what is and is not important to this space, and 2) it has given me at least 7 open laughs at that post, (and at myself) over the last two days.
Let me say however as a 12 year member of this community: That's awesome! It actually makes me genuinely happy to know that each member of the affiliate community is completely content where they are, what they are making, and how large their marketshare is. Next to Disney land this must be the happiest fucking place on earth.
I haven't posted on this board very often in the time I have been in this space because I have said that it is more about "nice tits" and "you suck" instead of actual business.
With all due respect [not sure if any is actually due], but most 12 year members don't have a signup date that is 2.5 weeks ago.
