As in, a mentor for "troubled" kids? That program has always interested me... it sounds like a good way to give back to the community and possibly turn a sour apple into a good kid. Do you know more about this mentor program or know of a good website listing similar programs?

Try mentoring a local high school kid. I did that my first year after graduating college. My mentee was an "at risk" kid from Oakland. Cool guy and very creative/artistic. Although it took him 3 months to drop the "gangsta thug" defense mechanism, it was very rewarding. They actually end up teaching you more about yourself as much as you help them.

I was a "Big Brother" for 4 years ... until my "little brother" moved to Bahamas ...
It is a very rewarding experience indeed ...
But I will forewarn you, the screening process has become VERY stringent (and for good reason with all the sickos out there these days ...)
I was not in porn when I was a big brother ... but yes they interview you at great lengths, and in some areas, come and do a full search of your home that is almost as thorough as a DEA search ... to ensure that you will be a good mentor for a young boy ...
if they were to find out you work in the adult internet, that might greatly reduce your chances of being approved ...

What's scary is I know some total burn-outs that are Big Brothers. Definitely wouldn't want them with my kids. But I'm assuming the parents of most of these high-risk kids don't care anyway.
I have 3 little brothers as is. The 15 year old stayed with me for a couple weeks this summer, I whipped that boy into shape. It was fun. He probably thought he was in hell waking up at 8 every morning.
