If your Audi is stolen should you be allowed to get personal information of EVERY other Audi owner so that you can find yours?
No it's not people like Britney Spears who lose their jobs and I'm sure you know this. It's the ordinary people at the bottom. Nice to see how far your personal integrity goes so parasites can continue to feed off the ones who pay.

As for the Audi example, seriously did you think that one through? If someone steals my car and leaves his address, yes I should be allowed to get his address.

      Your replies say a lot.

Who cares if it's 30%, or 50% or 90% that fileshare? It isn't hurting your business just like it isn't hurting the movie industry, just like it isn't hurting the music industry, software industry, or anything......

And not like you haven't file shared... and you still buy shit.
Which is why the world has gone into recession.

Got any proof Youtube makes money?

an ip address is not equal to a physical address

the RIAA has sued a printer and a dead person

          http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/02...ead/print.html

the problem is that the real offender in those cases was some hacker who accessed the network and the accused was simply an innocent victem too.

It would be the equivalent of government getting access to all your banking information
and if they find that little john stole his dad's credit card to access your site, you going to jail for selling porn to minors.

So if the pirates stopped stealing there would be no problem.

Your stance is so stupid it's only pirates hanging on by their finger nails who use it. But I'm sure you've heard this said on so many pirates boards you think it holds water.

Innocent people go to prison for all sorts of crimes. You're arguing because policing is not infallible we should not police at all. Stupid beyond belief. I'm sure if a crime was committed against you and the police told you they were not investigating the crime because there was a slight chance they get the wrong person you would rightly be pissed off.

Send me your address and I will send a couple of heavies around to thump you and we can see if you think the police should ignore it.

either you are a world class moron or you are deliberately being stupid because you know you are wrong.

We are not talking about stopping the investigation of a crime, we are talking about taking away the fundamental right to be considered innocent until proven guilty.

Under the old laws, the copyright holder would have to prove that you were actually the infringer before they had a right to violate your privacy

under the new law, they get your info first.

              See the difference you idiot.

all i am saying is that the RIAA should fix their identifying process so that can tell the differnence between an actual infringer and a print server that got hacked was only a relay BEFORE they have a right to bust down your door, take you to court and force you to spend 100K defending yourself.

INSTEAD of just changing the law, so they can use their screwed up data to harrass more innocent people.

So pirates need to stop stealing and the problem will go away.

What a court ask for is of course up to the courts. Judges sign search warrants every day on the word of a police officer. Yes it's a police officer, but I'm sure the judge will ask for some proof. Which will be easy to provide. Ex amount of traffic downloaded this pirated content via this ISP which we would like access to ONLY THIS TRAFFICS INFORMATION.

Yes mistakes happen, if the pirates stop stealing there will be no need for the mistakes. But the pirates don't care how many innocent people get hurt, so long as they can carry on stealing.

You proved you are a total idiot with your invisible join links but I will try to explain this to you anyway.

Your IP is requested by a private person because he has?evidence? that you have committed a crime. Judge only takes his ?evidence? into account. Your are never notified and can?t defend yourself. First time you even hear about it is when you get a letter where you are asked to pay whatever sum plaintiff thinks is reasonable.

You can now for the first time appeal to the court and try to get them to hear your side of the story IF you have the money for a lawyer. If you don?t have any money or not enough money all you can do is accept and pay even if you are innocent.

And your ?mistakes happen? argument is simply unbelievable. It is better to have 1000 guilty people get away than have just one wrongly accused and imprisoned. That is the basis of any state governed by law and first thing you learn at any law education. But for you making money is more important. Please move to USA or Iran because you are embarrassment for Europe and democracy and civilized society.

Yes but you have to put down idiots.

Donnie if the pirates are so concerned they need to stop stealing. Concern for the innocent is a two way street. Or don't they care and expect us to care?

We need to see how the information is used and the course taken by the the people concerned.

The proof the free loaders know they are stealing is shown in the drop of traffic, so maybe it's already working.

ok so if i setup a petition that made it you guilty of selling porn to minors if little Johnnie stole his dads credit card and used to access your site.

You would sign such a petition demanding the government come after you.
