The situation was ridiculous... it is, unfortunately, a common occurrence... not just with TSA but with any law enforcement. I have been harassed about having $2100 in cash before (in Michigan) and they weren't going to give it back to me until I could prove where I got it. Luckily, I had the check stub in my car. The cash wasn't half of the problem though... the real issue there was that I was with my buddy Wesley (who is black) and I had driven him down to a convenience store where his sister worked so that he could talk to her. It was about 8:30PM and I stayed in the car parked in the parking lot. Next thing you know... I have a cop pull up behind my car (blocking it) and the cop made me get out of my car and he searched me and pulled everything out of my pockets and put me (in cuffs) in the back of his car while they searched my car for drugs. Of course, they didn't find anything... It is the #1 reason I moved out of Michigan.
On the other hand, that dude in the middle is a loon talking about govt controlled capitalism... that was just a veiled attempt to swipe at Obama (FAIL). Maybe these guys should actually go into the real world where you can be detained and harrased for being white in a black neighborhood or the other way around.Comment

Ok... I will admit that I may have jumped the gun on that statement... but as I said... I have seen that same dude on some other Fox shows where he has made those same arguments (specifically about the Obama admin)... Most recently he was ranting about Obama promoting One World Govt. (which is purely a conspiracy theory that can be applied to every president for the last 40+ years). The John Birch Society has been promoting that theory for all of those years + some.

I was turned back from US Customs because I'm a Canadian who works online.
The agent decided that since I work online, I could, in theory, work from anywhere so the only reason I would enter the US is to do work there, and denied me entry.
Once I was denied entry, I was flagged and now have to answer a battery of questions every time I go and it's a 50/50 shot if I make it through.
One they even pulled me and my family in and had FOUR agents search through all of our luggage and baby food and everything in my vehicle for hours.
And why? Because they thought I was going to do work?? What were they going to find in the baby food to prove that?Comment

When you hear about a "friend of a friend" carrying around several thousand dollars in cash, what is the first thing you think? You think drug dealer. Why? The thought process is "why else would someone carry around that much cash?"
Now I know many people that carry around hundreds of dollars in cash at any given moment. It's just what they do. They want to have cash on hand if they need something.
Having cash on hand is not proof of illegal activity. Suspicious? Maybe. But you need more than suspicions to harass someone, cuff them, and be a total pain in their ass.
This isn't Bush's fault or Obama's (he just took office for Christ sakes), this is a gradual progression that has happened over the decades because people are needlessly afraid of everything that they don't understand. So they pressure the representatives to do something about it. The representatives create laws to make their constituents happy. And then we get this. Sorry but the guy should have told them what he does while recording and if they then responded negatively towards him and what he does for a living, that's when the officers would be in the wrong. Being the fact that he was flying out of one of the most drug ridden cities in the USA gives the officers the right to ask someone who is carrying a large sum of cash in all small bills from ticket type sales where and why. If they then act inappropriately towards him he has a complaint. You can not expect anyone who is a security guard for a career to figure out stuff, they ask questions. He is basicly asking them to assume what he does, and when they all start assuming what we all do for a living thats when we are fucked. I prefer to be asked.
The guy could have just as easily stopped at a bank and put it in a cashiers check, hell it would have made him safer. In St Louis he is fucking lucky he didnt get robbed looking that goofy.
